I'm interested in the bourbon chicken....like the kind at the mall?

Let me know how your experiment comes out!
  • @karich‌ She says in the description that it's kind of a cross between bourbon chicken and something else...I'd link, but I'm mobile and it's a pain. If I can hop on the computer later, I will.

RosiePeare  Yes, we make chicken instead b/c bigs don't like shrimp.  It is so yummy.  It tastes like Outback's appetizer. I also make an orange marmalade/honey sauce for dipping that makes it insane.  That probably takes the "skinny" part away though. :)

edit: we've made this a few times….a nice change to "chicken nuggets"

My two favorite go to webs for recipes…Skinnytaste and Pioneer Woman.  Sounds like we all have the same taste!

  • @karich I've made that Mac and Cheese Soup before.  So good!
  • golfergirl08  We've done that cheeseburger casserole and it is really good.  We used ground turkey.  The pickles are the best part!

  • We suck this week - sooo indecisive, plus my mom is coming into town on Wednesday, so we'll be letting her cook a time or two.

Lots of repeats from last week:

Sunday: Chicken Quesadillas -- we slow cook 1 chicken breast with a small can of Salsa Verde for the filling. It's so easy and so good!
    Monday: Shrimp Pasta
Tuesday: Paninis! We normally do Pesto, Mozz, Tomatoes, Sundried Tomatoes, and Artichokes; side salad
Wednesday: Pan cooked Mahi and Zuchinni Fritters
    Thursday: Homemade Calzones

And the rest of the week is totally up in the air. My mom is craving Spare Ribs -- anyone have good recipes for those?

  • I've decided we have to start planning meals ahead with both of us working full time, the evenings are crazy.  Here's what we've planned for week 1.

    Th: leftovers
    S: dinner at the in-laws

  • Hi Brilliant Planning Ladies! I am so in awe of you! Considering my meal planning consists of either looking in the fridge/freeze around noon, or going to the store to follow my cravings or my boyfriends requests, I have some questions, if that's ok.

How do you decide what to make each week? Do you look at recipes and pick a few that you'd like to try, as well as trusty favourites? And then make a list and shop accordingly. Or look at what you have, and decide from there?  Do you look at what is on sale in your local stores, and plan around that? I'm really intimidated, and have no idea where to start.

My boyfriends suggestion was to take a look at this thread, and pick which of your plans we like best for the week ;)

I was inspired by the other ladies. I found several recipes online that looked good, made a binder and went through it with MH to decide what we wanted to try.  From there we went grocery shopping.

We do it based on what we're craving, what we have leftover or in the freezer, and what's on sale. It's mainly so we're not scrambling at the end of every day to figure out what to eat that night -- plus, it helps us be better organized with grocery shopping on the weekends.
