How are you using that beautiful nursery we were all working so hard on just a few short months ago?

Re: Baby's Nursery

  • I was originally thinking 3 months too, but my LO is still waking up so frequently that I might keep her in with me for another month or so. Although I go back to work when she's 4 months so I should probably have her in her crib by then!
  • Loading the player...
  • DD has been in her nursery since about our first week home. DH and I are both light sleepers and every peep she'd make would have us both wide awake. We're all much happier this way.

  • On the same note... For those that pick option 2 like me... When will you move your baby into their nursery... Originally I was thinking 3 months... Now I'm not sure...
I was thinking 3 months too. But I'm not sure I'll be able to do it. Right now I'm trying to put LO down for his big nap during the day in his bed. I'm thinking that if I know he's comfy and at home there, it might be easier.

  • LO sleeps in it, I change her diapers there, we play in it, and have her nighttime bottles there. I love her nursery. I think it's the cleanest room in the house because I'm always straightening up when I'm in there.
Me too! I also hate doing laundry, but I still look forward to folding all of his little clothes and blankets.

  • I voted SS. DS is not sleeping in the nursery at night, but he takes at least one nap a day in there.

@BlueDot818‌ I go back to work when DS is a little over 3 months and my goal is to have him sleeping in the nursery by then. At least that's the plan for now.

Honestly, I have no idea. At first, I was too scared to have her away from me. And now that I'm back to work full time, I feel like I'd never see her if she started sleeping in her crib! I get an hour with her in the morning, and then maybe 2-3 hours when I get home (depending on WH and what time she finally goes to sleep.)

We also bedshare, so maybe a first step will be to move her into the PNP in our room?

  • So far I use the nursery for her last feeding of the night, and motn feedings/diaper changes. Her playmat is in there for tummy time during the day.

We always planned on transitioning her to her crib at 3 months...I can't wait for it. She's 12 weeks in 2 weeks so we will start then...I'm looking forward to not having to tip toe around my room when I go to bed, or having to whisper and keep the lights off, etc.
  • We joke it's her walk in closet

I was just thinking it's a fancy storage closet! We go in there to get diapers to keep in our room or the living room or to toss dirty clothes in the hamper and get new ones. I was in suuuuccchhh a rush to get it done and don't even use it.

  • I voted 2 but I'm starting to have LO nap in there. Plan is that he'll be sleeping in there consistently (nights too) by the time I return to work in late May.
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

    Mom to Lily and Colin!
  • Right now it doesn't get used, but we plan to have her in there eventually. Originally planned to transition her around 3 months like most pp have said, now I'm thinking at 4 months. We shall see.
  • We never officially put one together... He's sleeping in the pnp beside me for now. I told DH I want the crib put together at some point in April so when he comes home from surgery we can transition to it. We have a one-bedroom apartment but our room is shaped like an L so he will kind of have his own room but not really.

  • Option 2 here -- diaper/clothing change and motn (or mil here) feedings. I'd love for LO to be sleeping slightly longer stretches and not go BSC when he loses his paci before moving him in there. But there's the reality of a weight limit on the bassinet.

  • SS, LO has a portion of the master bedroom. The house construction hasn't even started that will contain the nursery.

I voted SS because the nursery is currently occupied by DS1. They will also be sharing a room once DS2 starts sleeping longer through the night. So I have no idea when DS2 will start sleeping in his crib.
  • We do all of her diaper changes in there, and our bedtime routine (last feeding and reading). She sleeps in our room during the night and wherever I have her during the day. I really plan on getting her in there within the next month since I'll be going back to work in May and want her to get used to a real crib. I try to put her in there now for naps, but she seems to wake up after like 20 minutes.

  • I chose option 2. I'll change her diaper in there during the day, get her dressed there, read books in the rocking chair (this happened twice. where does the day go?!) and she plays in her crib sometimes to get used to it. she really loves being in there though!

@BlueDot818‌ probably when she's 40. I'm way too attached to her being right next to my bed and can see DH finally just moving her in the middle of the night at some point.

  • We do diaper changes and motn feedings in the nursery, and she will sometimes chill in her crib for a few min while I put laundry away, ect. We also read books on the changing pad once a day since its pretty much her favorite place in the house, little weirdo. ;-)

We'll move her to sleep there once we get light block curtain liners for her room, hopefully this week. The plan is move the little lounger in there first, then move into the crib. Hopefully this will all happen before I got back to work in 4 weeks... well see!

  • We are just beginning to put her in there for some naps. Around 3 mos, I will start doing her bedtime routine in there and then putting her in the bassinet in there. Then moving her to the crib after that. That's what I did with my others anyway. If she's still needing the RNP incline I may push back to 4 mos.

  • He's been sleeping in there for about a week. He's 11 weeks now.
  • We use the nursery for diaper changes and dressing, but that's it. DS1 reads books in there while I change/dress LO.

DS1 never slept in the crib (maybe five naps total). He went from our bed to a twin mattress on his bedroom floor. Thinking this LO will do the same. Our crib was a definite waste. But it looks adorable! Hoping we can set it up as a full-size bed at some point.

Our $30 buffet-turned-changing-table has definitely more than paid for itself now.

  • We just use it for diaper changes and getting dressed. Sometimes I'll feed him or pump in the glider. I feel like it's not done yet-it seems to empty or boring or something :( I've been trying to add more to it this week with pictures and different things
