Pregnant after IF

NPAIFR: babymoon

My DH and I were discussing taking a babymoon during the summer. Has anyone else done this or are going to do this?

I'm kinda nervous about it because technically I'd be high risk just because of my age and if I have 2 in my ute then I will be even more high risk I'm sure.... So perhaps my obgyn won't let me anyway.

Re: NPAIFR: babymoon

  • If you can do it, do it! I waited around too long and b/c of the twins was told no flying/traveling after 20 weeks. I thought I'd have more time. Now I'm itching to go on vacay somewhere... anywhere... lol.

I'd do a nice weekend getaway in a heartbeat. If you are on Groupon/Living Social they usually have deals for weekend stays in Napa or Monterey in cute little cottages.

  • We went on a cruise when I was 11 weeks. We got a really great deal and needed a vacation so we turned it into our babymoon. Talk to your doctor and if they give you the okay, I say go for it!

  • I'd say do it if you can!  DH and I just took a long weekend down to FL and just hung out.  We didn't have much money to do anything, but we scrounged up a little and make it work for a couple days.  It's def worth it to have that last night in a hotel without a third wheel :-)

We are planning a trip for Memorial Day weekend, which will be 6 months.  We live in southern California so we are just doing a long weekend trip to somewhere drive-able.  It works best that way since DH doesn't have to take a vacation day, as he's saving his vacation for when Munchkin arrives because his work doesn't offer paid paternity leave.  And we figured driving was easier than risking any complications with flying, etc.

    CAlindi, FX for your beta!

  • We may just go to Charleston for a weekend in June, but I have to see, because I will be huge by then and have to see how I feel. Otherwise, we are thinking maybe a September trip as our first family vacation. Somewhere close and not for longer than maybe a long weekend, but just to get away.

This is exactly our mindset! IF is so stressful we decided we needed one last vacation to relax and enjoy just each other before our little bean gets here.

We had always wanted to go to Disney World once before we had kids so we are going at the end of May. I say do it! Even if it's just a weekend the time together will be worth it.

  • We went to Hawaii for our babymoon (we honeymooned in Maui). I was only 16 weeks, but it was my summer vacation so we decided to get away one last time while we could. We spent a week in Oahu. We didn't go anywhere this time. If you can do it, I'd suggest it! Even if it's just a short getaway.

  • Definitely do it! I'm high risk (AMA) and our RE and OB had no hesitations about me traveling. In fact, I just arrived in England today for a work trip this week, and DH is meeting me here on Saturday for a two week vacation in England and France. DOOOO ITTTT! (Ask your RE on timing, though. My RE did let me know he'd prefer I didn't travel after about 23 weeks -- or whenever viability date is -- since it'd be best to be near home if I should happen to go into crazy early labor.)

Began TTC #1 in Sept. 2010. I was 33, DH was 36.. Dx with DOR and slight MFI (8/4/11).

    Test results (after first RE visit 6/21/11): 7DPO b/w: Progesterone = 11.3; CD3 b/w: FSH = 10.1 mUnits/mL, E2= 52.0 pg/mL, AFC: 6; SIS Ultrasound: Uterus great, tubes clear! AMH: 0.3

    IUI#2 July 2012 (Follistim/HCG trigger): BFN

IUI#4 October 2012 (Follistim, ovulated before trigger, missed IUI, converted to TI): BFN
    Jan. 2013 New RE
IVF #1 June 2013 MDL Protocol. Converted to IUI#4.1. (High E2 and 3+ mature follicles at first monitoring.) BFFN
IVF #1.2 August 2013 Stop Lupron Protocol with Human Growth Hormone added. 17R, 14M, 9F (with ICSI), 2 embryos (decent quality - grade 2) transferred on day 3, 2 blasts made it to freeze. Beta 8/26. BFFN :'(

    FET #1 December 2013 Last try! Transferred 2 blasts -- graded 3AB and 4BB. Beta #1 (12/27/13) 530. Beta #2 (12/30/13) 1876. BFP! One bean. EDD 9/3/2014!

We welcomed the most beautiful baby girl into the world on September 11, 2014!

  • I also want to go on a babymoon but DH wants to keep me in this little bubble and not ever let me out - silly guy.  I'm also pregnant with 2, so I guess once I get released to my OB, I'll ask what she thinks.  It's good to hear that a lot of women go somewhere and I'll have to try to get DH on board!

    TTC since 9/2011. DH - 32, me 32.

*New RE* Sonohystrogram and hystereoscopy done in Feb.

IVF #2: ER 3/4/14  ET 3/7/14, transferred 3, 3 day 9 cell perfect embryos.  No frosties.

First ultrasound on 4/3/14 showed 3 sacs: one empty and two with beating hearts!!  At 7w2d, found out that one baby did not have a heartbeat anymore.  Praying that baby B makes it.  Baby B is a girl!

  • Highly recommend the babymoon! Go for it.  (Assuming your dr gives you the OK.)  Just do something relaxing.   My SO and I visited Charleston while we were in SC over the holidays and it was great spending that time together, just the two of us.
