Rashes

LO has had horrible diaper rashes for two weeks. Took her to the pedi more than once and she gave two different yeast creams its def not yeast. It started in a disposable we cd. And it has started in the past when she poops. So it went away for 1 day and is back again in full force it started after she pooped. So it leads me to believe its an allergen in her poop I cannot figure out what it is. Suggestions?

Is your baby teething? DD1 always had horrible diaper rashes when she was teething.

Don't know what it could be. My LO has really sensitive skin and we've had good luck with Grandma El's diaper rash cream - the rashes go away quickly. I think it's cloth diaper safe too. Hope you find out what it is soon.

What does it look like? Does the poop itself look or smell any different? Is it the same frequency? I only ask because we have had a range of issues from teething poops to true allergies. With the true allergies, things were pretty normal until the rash started. It was bright and solid. The yeast caused by teething poops was dotted and the poops smelled almost sour/sweet. When the rash was caused by a food (but not a true allergy because we were able to reintroduce the food after one and all was well- happened with carrots, mangos, and oranges), it was just a mild irritation that went away once I eliminated the food. I followed the 4 day rule very carefully because we kept having this issue with one boy or the other.

So sorry you guys are dealing with it! Those rashes are so awful for LOs and I hated having to always have a back up wiping plan since I couldn't use regular wipes!

It's hard to tell, but it kind of looks like A's stubborn yeast rashes. What worked for us is using Lotramin (clotrimazole) every 6 hours and nystatin every six hours. So basically every diaper change was one or the other. As much naked time as possible, two heaping tablespoons of baking soda in a very warm shallow bath a few times a day.

Has she been eating anything acidic? A has been chowing down on clementines lately and after the first few poops, she had a rash. The baking soda baths helped a ton. I also swear by Calmoseptine cream. It's a barrier cream, so for only pee you just blot, no wiping. For poop you wipe as much as you need to clean but you don't need to remove all the cream if it looks clean.

I agree with @kmc84‌. It looks a lot like DS2's yeast rashes and they were super persistent as well. We got a rx for Nystatin and did the baking soda baths. Normally, I only use regular diaper cream for bedtime, but I used it every time I wasn't doing the rx. I also stopped using diaper wipes and used water to wipe.

With DS2, there was always something that caused the initial rash and then the yeast started. With him- if was the mucous teething poops. He got them with every molar. You might have the same issue. If there is a food issue, it could be bringing the rash back over and over again. Anything new? You might have to do some eliminations to investigate.
