Pregnant after IF

CCS and PGS testing

If you have CCS or PGS testing, did you also have the Downs test at 12 weeks? I'm confused why they're suggesting it…

Re: CCS and PGS testing

  • I had a CVS done at 11w and the trisomy testing (13, 18, 21) was done as a routine part of the work up. I had the CVS done b/c I have a chromosomal abnormality, but testing for Down's is normal. They might also be doing it because of your age. Below the age of 30, your risk is 1/1000 and at 32 it increases to 1/750.

  • Hmmm... My OB did not feel there was any reason to have to do the Downs testing at 12 weeks, since we did CCS testing and knew our embryos had no chromosome abnormalities. CCS testing would have found if your embryos had the trisomy for Downs. But I'm sure every doc is different, and you can never be too safe, since nothing is 100%. I did have a simple blood test to check for neural tube defects, but had no other chromosome testing. I would get clarification form your doc, but I agree it seems strange to have to test for Downs again. GL!!
