hi there

my DS will start daycare at 12 weeks (he's 10 weeks now). he's going to a daycare center. it's a 5 star, new facility and tour went great ... but i know kids catch colds from the best daycares too. has anyone read up or had experience with things that I can do to at least help the situation a little? i am feeding breast milk and i know that helps his immune system, but it's not everything. we also just started him on the vitamin drops.

I SAH with DD, but we started early childhood classes for babies/toddlers together when she was about 5 months old, first class and a few days later she had her first cold. We never stopped going because of it or anything, it's supposed to be good for their immune system anyhow. She's 2 now and still gets colds from the other kids. It just happens when you are around other kids.
I will say a cool mist humidifier, some tylenol and saline spray may be wise to purchase now if you don't have any yet.
There's really nothing you can do to prevent it.
Look at it this way, kids who are in daycare early are less likely to have colds once they get elementary school. It's going to happen sooner or later, and this way you get it over with earlier.
