First off, THANK YOU to everyone for the well wishes for our appointment on Friday. Unfortunately, the weather here was terrible and our carrier did not feel comfortable making the 2+ hour drive to the fertility clinic. I don't blame her - she lives north of us and they got a good deal of ice followed by 10 inches of snow. We had rain, sleet, hail, thunder, lightning, and snow where I live all within a 12 hour period. Our appointment is scheduled for next Thursday. I'm bummed we didn't get to go but there's nothing we can really do about it...so now I'm doing more waiting and anxiously looking forward to our next appointment. She'll be almost 8 weeks. Crazy stuff.
As for my intro: I've been on this board a few times in the past and every time always ended in a loss. After our 6th and final loss, our doctor advised us to stop trying because he had run out of testing and treatments to try in order to help me sustain a pregnancy. I was given the diagnosis of recurrent pregnancy loss - unexplained. DH and I decided we wanted to pursue surrogacy since all testing on actual pregnancies as well as our own genetic testing was completely normal. We went through a lot of ups and downs, a surrogate who backed out by lying to me and saying she was pregnant even though she wasn't, and another failed match who turned out to be slightly nuts. We were finally matched with a carrier whom we love, and we had our transfer at the beginning of March after a drama-filled and drawn out process to get my eggs to grow and mature. She got a positive HPT less than a week after the transfer and now we are waiting for our first appointment to hear the heartbeat and see if one or both embryos implanted.
I wasn't sure I was going to intro here since I'm not the one who's actually pregnant. I mostly hang out on Third Party Reproduction, but I do lurk here! I'm mostly at ease with the fact that I've had to give up complete control and let someone else carry my baby but I still have moments were I want to be the one who is pregnant SO. BAD. It's a daily struggle but overall, I'm surprised at how relatively calm I am about everything. Again, thank you to everyone for the well wishes. I'm truly honored to have so many people who care about us!
