So my parents watched LO last night so DH and I could have a much needed date night, we saw Divergent, oh my gosh Four is so hot, but anyways... They are amazing grandparents and super helpful, we are very lucky - but they totally had a BLW fail last night. I told mom it was fine to give LO some strips of banana while they ate. We are letting LO play with and explore food during dinner time at our house. I've been pretty open with my mom about BLW and our plans but not clear enough I guess. So they gave her a quarter of a banana all mushed up and spoon fed her the whole thing - ugh not ideal but whatever, but then spoon fed her fake mashed potatoes, like the kind from the tub, totally processed with milk, salt and butter. Not cool! I kind of freaked out a little in my head and just asked them not to ever do that again. I explained no dairy at this age and that we are only doing whole, real foods for now. I think I totally hurt her feelings and I could tell she felt terrible. Now I'm not sure how to explain BLW and give clear instruction without bringing her down - but also making sure she really hears me. She's great about doing what we ask and watches LO 2 days a week while I work so I know I need to address this. TIA!

Maybe you could share that with them? They're adults, I'm sure honesty wouldn't offend them. They probably just don't fully understand the process
I would just not worry about it but I know she wants to feed LO and I don't want to forbid it, although I doubt she will do it often. Fingers crossed I can "teach" without making her feel preached to!
I picked up my LO tonight and her onesie had pink and orange on it. I asked what it was... Fucking frosting!! My mom said my niece gave her some from her birthday cake. I'm usually easy going but I'm pretty pissed about it.
