We met some new friends and they invited us over to grill tonight. We obviously accepted, however, it's a half hr before lo bedtime. What do I do? Yes, we have never been in this situation. We rarely leave, but feel it's time to venture out of our comfort zone in our new town and have friends here.

I'm a stickler for bedtime 95% of the time. The other 5% is when we have evening plans and are taking LO. Most of the time he is super excited to be out and about and has no problem staying up late. If he starts to get fussy, I put him in his stroller or whatever else we have with us and let him fall asleep with a bottle. If we are having dinner at someone's house I'll even bring the baby monitor and set it up so I can enjoy company but still keep an ear on him while he sleeps in another room.

Do you have a sling or wrap? I usually just end up wearing LO and he will sleep on me, or I will put him in his bucket seat and let him sleep there. If he doesn't want to sleep and ends up staying up the entire time then we don't worry too much about it as we only go out once and awhile. Good luck and have fun!

If it were me, I would just go, and if LO got super tired, let him sleep on us. He normally goes to bed around seven, but if we go out to visit family or whatever, he will usually try to stay up until at least nine because he must see everything that is happening. But if your baby doesn't respond well to disruptions in his schedule, that may or may not work.

I have taken her over friends house and she has napped on their bed with pillows as rails. They didn't mind.

Thanks for the feedback. We made it from 6:30-9. He started to go into overtired meltdown so we left. Since they only have a 3mo old and are new friends didn't want to lung a bunch of stuff over until we got acquainted better. I think in due time we might be able to do that. Hopefully they got the clue too that eating dinner at 8pm with babies isn't the grandest of plans either lol.
Lo passed right out when we layed him in his crib. Pooped him right out.
