Healthy smoothie ideas?

Unfortunately since January, I gained too much weight--I gained about 15 pounds since January, and already wanted to lose 20 before January. Now that I am home it is my April 5th resolution to start to lose the weight. I started back on weight watchers today, I did have success on it before. It is just me going off the bandwagon and everything. Plus DH isn't a help with junk food in the house.

I don't want to detox or anything, but I would like to incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet (and actually Reese's too).

Any ideas?

Re: Healthy smoothie ideas?

  • I just started making smoothies with coconut water. YUM! I don't follow recipes, but I usually use coconut water, plain Greek yogurt, fruit (like berries, bananas, mango, pears) and green leafy veggies (like spinach and kale). Then I just blend with ice. Sometimes I add honey too.

  • I have recently been on a strawberry, spinach, oatmeal, ground flax seed, chia seed, almond milk and OJ kick.
  • @NYMama1‌ I'm intrigued with the oatmeal idea. Do you just put it in the blender raw?

  • My go to smoothie is kale, spinach, an apple, a banana, a carrot (I grate this before putting it into the blender), a handful of strawberries, a spoonful of yogurt, and then some flax meal. The flax meal keeps the smoothie fairly thick which is nice for my preferences, it won't have the same effect in whole seed form.

(I buy whole flax seeds in the bulk section and grind them with a coffee grinder. Way cheaper than buying the meal in a bag.)

  • @LaurelBee‌ I do use uncooked rolled oats. It adds a little thickness to the smoothie.
