Noah NBR

My fb feed has been SO full of arguments about this movie. I saw it last night and wondered if any of you saw it and feel strongly about it one way or the other.

Re: Noah NBR

  • The consensus I've heard is: good movie, but not necessarily very Biblical.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

I hated 80% of it but not because of the religious stuff or how the religious aspects were portrayed. I wonder if I'd like it not pregnant though. It was so sad and depressing. I had to close my eyes a few times because it was just too hard to watch.

  • I saw it. It was a good movie. Not really "religious" so I liked it.
  • I haven't seen anything in my FB feed, which I find odd considering how many devout friends I have. Most of them are not seeing it, I think, because they find some parts of it to be blasphemous. At least, that's what I assume. I fully intend to see it. I think if you're looking for biblical knowledge, look to the bible. A movie is supposed to have a theatrical and dramatic element that is visually appealing, therefore a creative license is not optional but mandatory. One friend "warned" me against seeing it but honestly, if a movie were to shake my faith, I am thinking my faith wasn't strong to begin with, ya know?

  • Good movie, not too religious/biblical. I almost cried at parts.

  • @Internationalkate‌ Same here! What a great name :)
  • I want to see it! Its not really supposed to be a Christian movie though. The director is an atheist. It is just very loosely based on the story of Noah. They add in a ton of stuff thats not in the Bible. Its hollywood, what do you expect.

  • I read a review that said that Noah was portrayed like a total nutjob and there were disturbing scenes including animal cruelty and rape.  No thanks!

Those were the parts I had to close my eyes. And one at the end that made me just sob but it's a total spoiler so not saying what it was.

Yeah, I just can't handle shit like that.  I just don't have the emotional energy for it.

  • I have zero desire to see it. I get that movies get to take a creative license and stories of the bible are open to interpretation, but as a Catholic I have a hard time seeing it as "entertainment".

  • My hubby and I saw it. Since it wasn't meant to be a biblically based movie, I went in with an open mind. From what I read beforehand, the story of great flood appears in many different religions and stories of creation so the director wanted to address this as the story, not one specific version or belief. While it was very different than anything I was expecting, I kinda of enjoyed it. It was a very different story. It still acknowledges a creator and mankind stemming from Adam and Eve. However, it was very disturbing in some areas but I think showed just exactly how terrible man could have been before the flood. So, that being said, go in with an open mind and remember that it's not meant to be biblically correct, just a compilation of the different stories of the great flood that appear in different cultures. I think it's similar to these historical movies that are loosely based upon events but you don't see people making such a fuss about them being so inaccurate. Now it's actually got me curious as to what those other flood stories say and I want to research them to see how they compare and contrast.

  • Most folks I know were watching it as a joke. It's supposed to be ridiculously bad. I haven't seen it.
