Just Between Friends Consignment Sale

Hey y'all --

I heard about JBF a year or so ago and just heard that there's one coming up at the end of April in the DC area.  I've heard that JBF is an amazing consignment sale, with both new and used baby items.  They have them around the United States and seem to be a great place to get items that you may not want to pay full price for.

Has anyone here been to JBF before?  Any advice or tips?

    They had a just between friends sale about a month ago in my area. I just went to get maternity clothes and ended up with a couple pairs of pants ($5 & $7) and a shirt ($3) for a good deal. I went later in the sale so the inventory was pretty well picked over. I went to a Rhea Lana sale this last week and got 9 shirts for $32! I went on the first day of that sale and was absolutely blown away by the selection/number of items. Some of the consignment sales offer early bird passes for FTM. I plan on hitting up more sales closer to September to buy any items still needed for baby. I see no reason to buy retail on baby cloths if you have good consignment sales. Good luck and have fun!

    I just found out about the JBF sale after the Spring sale where my parents live was over. It looked absolutely amazing! They have one coming up here near me, and it doesn't look nearly as good. I still plan on checking it out, but I imagine some locations are better than others.

    The closest one to me is in PA, 3 hour drive away. Drats.

    Just went to one in my area about 3 weeks ago. I'm a FTM and I don't know the gender yet. It was really hard to walk around and get anything. I walked away with some gender neutral plastic toys and rattles.
    My advice, if you are a FTM, take a friend that has a child so she can point out a good deal when she sees it. Plan to shop for things to leave at grandma's house since you'll probably get most of your new stuff through registry. It would have been helpful to know the gender. Then we could have gotten some really cute clothes!

    The one near me is never great. Not even really worth the time. For clothes, Baby Gap has much better prices than JBF when they have the extra 30-40% off clearance. For gear, the twice yearly baby clearance at target has similar prices, except you'll get stuff new at target.

    The JBF sales by me are great! FTM's and pregnant women can register to get in free a day early to get the good stuff. I found the toys and girl clothes to be really good, but the selection of boy clothes is usually pretty sad.
