Random discussion question: What tricks have you learned?

What special little "mommy things" have you learned that your LO loves? For example, I learned that my son loves when I run my fingers through his hair (he'll start to doze off!), when I say, "kisses" in a weird, singsongy (and not in public

) voice and that when he's nursing, he likes when I lift his top leg up and down.

Thanks for sharing- I think it's fun to hear about everyone's babies and their unique personalities!

My lo loves when anyone says hello to him in an excited voice. He always responds with a huge smile. He also loves when I mimic his noises. He also loves dhs voice, talking or singing. Lo calms right down every time and has done so since in the womb.

Allison likes her diaper changed... Lol. She always smiles like crazy when she's laid down to change it, so I always talk to her in a voice I use just for her to keep her smiling, she loves it! She also loves her nose booped, and watching us eat or talk when she thinks we're not looking (she stops smiling if we look right at her), oh and tongues she loves watching your tongue move and try's to mimic it by sticking hers out too!

She likes getting dressed! And she loves when we sing to her- I sing her the gambler, and my husband sings cutis Lowe? (I think that's the song!).

Another LO who loves being changed. Or even just being on the changing pad. What is it about those things??

It instantly calms her if she's melting down and puts her to sleep on rough nights.

She also loves when you talk to her keeping your lips kind of pursed. Like a kissy face. It can be tiring on the mouth but when I do that she talks back and coos for much longer than if I just talk to her like a regular person.

She also loooooves to lay on the boppy and talk to the ceiling fan.

I've also found that she does down much easier when we "hug" before bed. After nursing but before she's swaddled I put her on my shoulder and she lays there with her arms around me and is just dead weight. She has her eyes open but just likes to be hugged before bed. It's hard to put her down after that!

Same here! He loves looking at his picture of 4 monkeys hanging above his changing station. Changing time is when he is the most talkative! He gets so excited and kicks like crazy and ends up getting poo or Desatin all over his feet haha.

@bethughknee I don't know if you have an arranged marriage yet, but I think our LOs would be a great match! He loves the changing table and LOVES the Camptown Ladies.

He also loves it when I talk to him in what I consider "his" voice. Yes, I speak for him - out loud - in a squeaky little voice. He is very agreeable, always saying things like "Yes Mommy!" It's what I do when I'm home alone with an infant...

She loves when I fly her around like an airplane. She also instantly calms down when she sees herself in a mirror [not sure if that's a sign of what's to come for me or what...].

She and DS are SO CUTE together. She's now constantly looking for him and reaches out to him when he comes around, and DS is always wanting to give her kisses or hold her. They're adorable.

J loves to be bounced for burping rather than patting. I just sit him up and hold his middle and after a few bounces he gets it out. His favorite activity is sitting in boppy post feeding and talking to the masks on the wall we collected from traveling lol. He does it so much we've named them and just refer to them as his friends now.

DD loooooooves to watch DS. She will almost always stop fussing if he talks to her. She also likes her back patted and she is super happy in the bath.

If LO is sleepy you have to cradle her and rotate her toward you so she can get her thumb.
Jacques the peacock (which we call birdie) is the one toy that will always calm her.
Playing music through the sound system will calm her if she's in a meltdown (she likes the bass and it has to be loud).

DS loves getting naked. He starts to smile instantly when you take his socks off then just gets more excited with each piece of clothing. Fun is over when you start to put clothes back on. And of course he is absolutely amazed with his big sister... She can make him smile on queue

DD loves mirrors, and any song I sing her about her diaper. She also laughs at us now when she pees or poos when we are changing her. Luckily, we usually have the new diaper under the old one so we avoid having to change her clothes or the changing pad. Sneaky baby.

DS loves mirrors, the ceiling fan & the tv. He will fall right asleep when I pat him bum and he burps better from bouncing rather than patting!

Norah likes her Sophie the Giraffe toy, but only if I hold it near my face, squeak it, and say "SO-phieeeee" in a sing-songy voice - it's how I got my first almost giggle from her. She loves her post-bath massage (I rub cream on her) especially when I rub her feet and toes and play "this little piggy went to market". When she's wide awake she likes to sit on laps facing outwards to be part of the action, or "stand up" with us holding her under the arms.
