Nausea and Pooping ALOT... Labor Signs???

So I am 36 weeks today and a couple days ago the baby got really quiet so I went in to the doctor because I am used to feeling movement-- he was perfectly healthy and practicing breathing, head down and I am 1cm dialated. So nothing was really happening.

Now for the past 2 days I has been pooping NON STOP with loose stool, and woke up yesterday night and tonight at 3:30 feeling a bit nauseous. I haven't had any cramping-- just a lot of pelvic pressure and back aches....

I'm a FTM so I'm not sure if maybe other moms have felt this with their own pregnancies, but I'm really wondering if it's pre labor signs.

  • I would guess those are signs of a stomach bug.

  • I had the same thing - really soft stools multiple times per day starting at 34 weeks some nausea and backaches all the time. When I asked my doctor she told me it was normal for some women as it's the body prepping for labor, but didn't mean anything more.

Fast forward to a week later and my water broke. The day before I had more loose stools and felt crampy all day. When I got to the hospital I was only 1 cm.

So for some women it may mean something but for others nothing... Just mention to your doctor at the next appt again.

  • Sorry, I left my crystal ball at home but I'm getting your doctor has a better idea anyway.
  • My doctor listed diarrhea and vomiting among other "pre labor things to watch for." But around 38-39 weeks. Are you having increased back pain or contractions? Without those I wouldn't worry too much.

  • Doctor will always know best. But I'm in a similar situation myself. Not loose, per se, but I'm definitely more regular than I was earlier in my pregnancy with more pelvic pressure and some back pain. My birthing class indicated these as possible signs of pre labor.
