Question re MFI & Successful Pregnancy (lurking from TTTC) ** loss discussed

We are MFI w/ very low morphology and borderline everything else. We just experienced our first ever BFP w/ our 2nd IUI which sadly ended in a very early chemical; we had doubling beta once but then it went right back down. Anyway, since then, I've been doing a lot of reading regarding MFI and losses and have noticed that it is kind of common. So I had a question (hoping for success stories). Did any of you with MFI (focusing on low morphology) experience more than one loss? Did you have to move to IVF w/ ICSI for a viable pregnancy? I know everyone is different. I am just wondering if we should not waste any more time on IUI's even though it technically worked. Thanks for any success story or words of advice/wisdom!! I can't wait to join this group!

DH- MFI (low count, 2-3% morph)
IUI #1 January - Clomid, Ovidrel: BFN
IUI #2 February - Letrozole, Follistim, Ovidrel: BFP 1st beta-25, 2nd beta-56, 3rd beta-45, miscarriage
IUI #3 April - CD3 U/S 4-10. Letrozole, Follistim, Ovidrel CD11 - Cancelled.. TI w/5 follicles-BFN
IUI #3.1 May - CD3 U/S 5-6, Follistim start 5-11 thru 5-17, u/s 5-18 3 mature w/ a close 4th, IUI 5-20 - BFP!
             Beta #1 12dpo - 164 & progesterone - 89!, Beta #2 16 dpo - 1189, 5w3d - u/s shows TWINS!
             6/19- u/s showed heartbeats! Baby A 111 & Baby B 118, both measuring 6w1d
             7/3- Baby A hb 170, Baby B hb 166 - both measuring perfect.
             7/18 - Baby A 165, Baby B 171 - both measuring right on track & moving all around!

    Our situation is pretty different because we didn't even attempt IUI w/ DH's sperm. We went straight to donor (and the donor had great count/motility). After two rounds of that not working, we went to IVF w/ ICSI w/ DH's sperm and got pregnant after our first transfer. 

    This may just be me, but if there isn't a reason to do IUIs (i.e. insurance is paying for them), I would go straight to IVF with ICSI. The success rates are so much better.

    The MFI we dealt with was low motility.  Motility went up to 40%, but after 3 failed IUIs (that's what insurance covered)  we went to IVF with ICSI.  Since the IVF with ICSI gave us such a better chance of success, it was more promising and I felt more hopeful.  I had a feeling the IUIs wouldn't work out, but since it was covered we decided to try that first.  Best of luck in whatever path you decide to take.

    My dh had basically zero count, so we tried varicocele and two tese surgeries with no success. My dh said he was relieved because he knew even if they had found something loss chances increase (he is a statistical geek and read all the analytical white papers on mfi and loss rates). We used donor sperm and got preggo with our first try using donor IVF w ICSI. It's a super personal choice to use donor though and I'm sure there are lots of awesome success stories out there, but wanted to share our story. Good luck!

    IVF #2 Mar 2014- success.... baby girl born 11/28/14
    FET #1 Mar 2016- baby boy due 12/16/16

    We tried 5 IUI's with MFI.  All unsuccessful not even a BFP.  My first IVF ended in a chemical and my second IVF is currently right on track.  Second beta came back at 524.  Ultrasound is Monday

    We jumped right to IVF with ICSI and are currently 12 weeks pregnant. My husband had low morph and motility. Best of luck!

    Just sharing because of the low morph.

    We have 0% morphology and low count. We did IVF with ICSI and got pregnant with DD. We had two embies left and are now expecting #2.

    We went straight to IVF w/ICSI because my husbands count was so low. But unless insurance had covered IUI I still would have gone straight to IVF just because it has so much better chances of working. We were one of the lucky ones and our IVF worked the first try.  Good luck!

    So sorry for your loss.  We are also MFI with low morph and borderline everything else.  We tried 2 IUI's against my Dr's advice.  Neither were successful.  We ended up moving on to my RE's initial recommendation of IVF with ICSI.  The fresh cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy.  After that, my high NK cells were discovered and treated during our FET cycle.  The FET worked.  It's hard to know how long and if to try a certain treatment.  The general rule of thumb is try something 3 times and move on.  Our original plan was to try 3 IUI's, but our insurance coverage was ending so we had to get the fresh IVF cycle in while we could have some coverage.  Even though IVF has higher success rates and was our RE's original recommendations, I don't regret trying the IUI's.

    @MissEm15‌ glad to see you're from three tee, those ladies are amazing and I miss them everyday, were 3% morph! RE didn't mention it affecting the pregnancy! just that we'd have a harder time with it penetrating my eggs, if I even got eggs. . Is your husband on any medications ?

    @pcrumpley No my husband is not on any prescribed meds.. I did start him on Fertility Blend and Coq10 just to try something. It's only been about a month or a little longer though. MY RE said our only problem was morphology.. but now looking at his numbers on IUI day, they are all borderline. That's why I added those vitamins. I never had DH see a Uro bc it takes so long for results and we were going to IVF so fast. Now, I wish I would have. 

    Was your DH on anything? DId you have him see a Uro?
