"Cry it out"

Ok, so now that DD is in another room, I realized I was still running to her aid whenever she cried without even letting it go to make her comfort herself. Doesn't help that when I tried, my dad would come into my room and ask me if I knew she was crying "because she's been crying for a while" (maybe s minute or two). At about 4 this morning she woke up, I waited a few minutes, went in and got her paci. It looked like she had fallen back asleep so I walked out of the room and closed the door. She immediately cried. But I let it go, after maybe 5 min, she was quiet. But then she started crying at 4:30. I waited and this time, after 2 min she stopped. Then again at 5. Then I woke up at 6:30 in a panic because I apparently didn't set my alarm. She slept until 7.

    Cio isnt the devil when done right at the right age. If bentley is over tired hes cries himself to sleep even if your holding him and soothing him. Motn i let him cry for a few minutes

    I know, but I hate it. And I've been slowly letting her cry it out but my dad is like "go check on her, she's crying" and I tried to tell him that she needs to start crying it out and he's like "no, you need to check on her."

    I HAD to do Ferber/CIO with my DD at 10 months because she WOULD NOT SLEEP. By 9-10 months it is not going to hurt them to leave them for five minutes and see if they'll self soothe. Your dad needs to back off and let you parent :)

    That's awesome!!! And maybe you should get your dad a sleep sheep and some ear plugs unless he plans to be up with her at 4, 5, or 6?! :)

    The thing is, he's practically deaf, do I'm still trying to figure out how he heard her. She has been in the same room with him and cried and he didn't hear her.

    Also, last night, she only cried once. At 4:45. And I snuck in the room (so she couldn't see me) and made sure her paci wasn't on the ground or under the crib, which it was. Next to the wall farthest from my reach. Of course. So I quietly got something to reach that far back and get the paci out and by the time I got the paci in hand, she stopped crying and was back to sleep. All of maybe 3 min. And again, *I* woke *her* up this morning.

    Progress!

    Maybe she'll let me sleep in tomorrow... One can only hope :D

    That's great rox! Maybe investing in like 5 more pacis so there are a bunch within reach might help. OR try to kick the habit with it all together!

    I don't want to buy anymore paci's because I do want to be able to wean her off them sooner rather than later. She's actually been spitting the paci out when I try to give it to her when she's awake. She barely falls asleep with it in her mouth here. Sometimes, though, she's like "WHERE IS MY FUCKING PACI?!"
