I am 35 w 2 d with di/di twins. Baby A (who has always been and still is bigger) is head down, face towards the back - perfect for vaginal delivery. I've been told all along that it doesn't matter if Baby B is head down or not since she is smaller so could be delivered breech (she is currently transverse). I will obviously do what is best for the babies but I really want to try for a vaginal birth if at all possible which it currently seems like it is. Most of the doctors in my practice have been supportive of this plan.
My doctor's office called today to schedule my c-section for 38 weeks (Baby B has a 2 vessel cord so they don't want me going any longer) if I make it to that day. I told the nurse I would rather schedule an induction than a c-section as I am trying to avoid the c-section unless it's medically necessary. She wanted to schedule one so it's on the books with the dr I want in case I need it and they don't schedule inductions this far out. I pretty much refused without more information. We agreed I could wait and talk to the dr at my appt on Friday about it and decide then. Is this standard procedure for twins though? Did everyone have a c-section scheduled in case they made it that far? I will obviously deal with having a c-section if necessary but I don't want to be forced to have one just b/c it's convenient for the dr if it isn't medically necessary for the babies. I'd love any input from those of you who have BTDT. Thanks!
Re: Did you have to schedule a csection?
Hope your ob gives you more info. The only thing I can think of is that a lot of hospitals require you give birth in the OR. So, maybe the scheduler is just calling it a c sec just to reserve the room if you'll really be induced.

After 10 months of ttc via medicated IUIs and two early losses, we finally got our boys- Perfect premie twins born 5/27/14.
Turns out I had an emergency c/s after my water broke due to a prolapsed cord, so it was moot.
My hospital was pretty big and there were plenty of doctors and nurses there to do an unplanned section but perhaps some hospitals just like to have it on the books so that they have the appropriate staff available. There will be a TON of people in your delivery room so not every hospital has the staff to do this easily without some planning.
