  @intuitiveblue Thanks for the suggestions.  I have thought about using the "clean eating" excuse.  I have lost about 50 lbs since September so it would be believable.  I think I might go for a little bit but not stay too long so it doesn't become a big deal.

  DX: PCOS, Stage III Endo, slight Adenomyosis, blocked tube, and probable LPD

  Treatments:  6 Months Lupron Depot injections; 1500 mg metformin; 3 cycles of Clomid + TI = BFN

  3 endometrial biopsies all were "out of phase" 

  September - December, 2013:  Break to lose weight and get healthy

  40 lb weight loss but still not ovulating "in phase"  

  February - March 2014: bcps + follistim + trigger + TI = BFP

   Beta #1 (12dpo): 30; Beta #2 (18dpo): 500; Beta #3 (25dpo): 7,000!!! 

  1st u/s 4/16: One beautiful hb at 144 bmp 

  2nd u/s 4/29: hb at 166 bmp.  Graduated from RE!!

  Lent is still going on right? My former boss wasn't Catholic, but she would give up something every year for Lent because she thought it was good practice. You could say one of your friends or coworkers gave up alcohol for Lent and you agreed to partner with them for moral support. Just an idea.

  Lent is a great excuse this time of year! I also use the clean eating one, or if DH is with, I am his driver... Also, my MIL can't drink red wine because of her dental issues, she's afraid of them staining faster than her regular teeth... LOL...

  I'd say you can't bc of your medication, almost everyone we knew, knew about our IF struggles, so it was common for me to say I can't drink bc of medicine. . Lents a good excuse too, but if you aren't super religious people, you'll think of something lol

  Similar to the other posters: you're getting over a cold/feel a cold coming on/taking meds and you tried drinking with meds before and it turned out bad so you want to avoid it again this time. You have to get up really early the next day to go help someone/attend a niece/nephew's event. Handyman is coming to fix something and they'll be there at 8am because it's going to take a while...

  Break to move and find new PCP, OB/Gyn & RE
  Sept 2013: first appt with RE
  Nov / Dec 2013: IVF #1 with ICSI split
    Dec 6: Retrieval, 4 retrieved, 2 mature, 1 fertilized
    Dec 11: Transferred 1 (Day 5)
    Dec 30:  HCG Beta, 4980. BFP!

  I used to just be as honest as possible and say "we're trying to get pregnant (even though I already was) so I don't want to risk anything."  Or you could use the Lent excuse, that's actually a good one.  Another one I hear a lot is "I'm on antibiotics," and it could be believeable this time of year with the weather changing now.  You could also just say that you're not feeling 100% so you don't want to drink and leave it at that.

  That's what I was going to say. Say you're hungover from the night before and can't stand the smell/taste at that time!

  I was in this position over Christmas. I just kept saying that I had a bad migraine earlier in the day and while it was gone I was not interested in tempting it back. I also would take a drink and just pour a bit out when I went to the bathroom, but that is hard since I would naturally just sip while talking to people.

  Ditto to pouring it out in the bathroom! Works best with a bottle of beer so no one can really see how much you had to drink. I'll be doing the same this weekend at our work sales conference - wish me luck, and good luck to you!!

  Late to the party here...but I used a few excuses for a while. I'd say that I couldn't because I was on a medication that couldn't be mixed with alcohol. (This was kind of true...I was on metformin) I'd also say that my stomach was started to get irritated and I didn't want my stomach ulcers to come back...this required a little more work since I'd also have to stay away from fried and spicy food to keep people from saying anything
