My first beta are over 3x the base line that my REs office like to see..... My beta is 276! This all seems so surreal; however, I'm relishing in every victory.

Quick question....

I have been terrified to have sex with my DH because I'm afraid we are going to screw this up.... What was the time line everyone waited to resume intercourse? I told my DH I think we should wait to see the heartbeat(s) before engaging. He of course isn't happy about this but he gets why I'm scared.

    our RE wanted us to wait for the first u/s (6w). I know it's a long wait for the guys, but hopefully it's worth it!

    Yay!!! We were told to wait until first ultrasound also. He can suck it up for a little longer lol!! (Truth be told, I was so sick, we ended up waiting longer.. But hey- I'm growing a human here!!) :)

    Our RE said first u/s too... Honestly, I didn't even ask because (not gonna lie) I'm a little afraid.. and RE jumped in and told us we could go ahead anyway...

    This may be a little TMI, but I'm still taking Endometrium, and the whole thought of it is kind of gross to me anyway.

    We waited until first ultra sound, but after what happened yesterday she told us to wait a little longer. It is worth the wait.

    Congratulations on a great beta! :) Like many ladies have said, my RE had us wait until after 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks. Definitely worth the wait in my opinion!

    My doctor said no sex until after heartbeat is seen

    It seems a lot of REs say wait until the heartbeat, but mine gave me the go ahead when I asked after the second beta. She just said to be warned that there is a lot going on down there right now and it could cause some minor spotting. 

    So, that pretty much scared me. 

    And Hubby is already terrified, so we've done it like twice since our second beta. LOL.

    Congratulations! So thrilled for you. My RE gave us to go ahead to have sex 4/5 days after the ET. No restrictions at all during first trimester.

    Congrats!! Good to see you over here!  I was told to wait until 1st US but my ovary was still huge, so it was put off even longer.

    Yayyyyyyyyyy! Official congrats! Amazing number. .

    I was way too freaked out to do anything and thankfully dh was more paranoid than I was lol. RE said its ok after they hear hb, that was at 6 weeks, we didnt do anything that week cuz we were just scared in general but then at my 7 week u/s they saw a sch so they said no sex until that resolves. At 9 weeks it was gone but we still waited until after we got our NT scan results lol. ....at 15 weeks! ...super paranoid I know.

    Congrats! We waited for a couple ultrasounds. My husband hasn't gotten any since the end of December and won't for another 6-8 weeks :)

    Me: MTHFR, Low AMH (1.1), High NK cells and Antiphospholipid Antibodies.
    DH:MFI-Low morph (1%), DNA fragmentation: Excellent!
    5 rounds of clomid, 3 IUIs, and multiple non-medicated cycles- BFFN                                                      
    IVF with ICSI in August 2013 brought us our babies.  ER-9R, 7M, 4F w/ICSI  ET of 2-Grade 2 blasts. 
    + HPT at 6dp5dt. #1 (8dp5dt)- 105    #2 (13dp5dt)- 510  #3 (15dp5dt)- 960  #4 (17dp5dt)- 1889
    Dx shortened cervix, PTL, and preeclampsia during pregnancy.  Lots of medications and 13 weeks of bedrest, babies were born healthy at 34w4d!

    My RE said no sex till the first u/s (heart beat). Actually he didn't say that, it was the nurse, but we just went with it. But if you don't feel comfortable, then don't do it. Listen to your body!

    FWIW, the whole no sex thing during pregnancy really sucks, and it's more common & frequent than I thought it would be. When I had an SCH I was on pelvic rest for a couple weeks. Then in first tri you're just trying to survive, so it didn't happen much. Now that sex gives me cramps and contractions (yaaay) we're on pelvic rest indefinitely. Gah! Just let hubby know what's going on as things progress. Some stuff you can't help! But it's only temporary :)

    Scary stuff with the SCH lady! I'm glad it resolved.

    Thank you for letting me know that it is common that sex takes a backseat during pregnancy. I guess we will just wait to see how things play out..... And my DH is just going to have to understand :)
    Not that I think it will be an issue because my DH is very understanding and supportive..... He just REALLY loves me and sex apparently lol

    I was on pelvic rest until after my first u/s, then I had an SCH so it got extended, then they wanted me to wait again to hear the HB just in case.  I think it was about week 7 or 8 that I was given the go ahead.  Once we heard the HB and I went a week without bleeding they weren't concerned anymore.

    Edit: FWIW, I know a lot of the ladies on here have said they've been super cautious, but I actually haven't and it's been some of the best sex and Os ever.  I've actually never been so horny in my entire life, DH thinks I'm a nympho! lol  We've been having sex since pretty early on, as I mentioned above, and I've never had an issue *knock on wood*.  I did have some cramping after O in first tri, but that went away after a couple weeks.  I just make sure to drink tons of water afterwards...I'm not sure if it's helps, but it give me peace of mind.

    Oh no!  I didn't realize you were on indefinite pelvic rest!!!  That stinks girl!! :-(  Does having an O really give you contractions?    That's nuts!

    Congrats and welcome!  We were told to wait until no bleeding for one week, since I was having on and off spotting at the beginning.  That, combined with m/s and having gone through multiple early losses, kept us away from each other until the beginning of 2nd tri.

    Me: 42. DH: 46.

    1st Pregnancy: MC, 11/19/00.

    2nd Pregnancy: DS born 04/10/06.

    3rd Pregnancy: CP, 03/11.

    4th Pregnancy: MMC, D&C 11/30/11, Genetic testing revealed Trisomy 4.

    5th Pregnancy: Ectopic, 2 doses of Methotrexate unsuccessful, surgery 4/10/12, right tube removed.

    Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN.  After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.

    August 16, 2013:  BFP our first month of "not trying!"  Still in shock.  Beta #1 (14dpo): 183.  Beta #2 (17dpo):  611.  Ultrasound 8/30/13: baby measured 6 weeks, 1 day, heart rate of 118 bpm! 
    Ultrasound 9/13/13:  8 weeks, heart rate of 176!
    Baby is due 4/26/14

    First of all....YAY!  Congrats!!

    For the sex question, my RE said to take that up with the OB.   They prefer you not to have any intercourse/stimulation/orgasm until the pregnancy is confirmed and you are transferred to OB.  My RE was a little more careful with me because it was my 3rd and last IVF and we only have 1 frosty.

    Congratulations!!!  As for your question, our RE said to wait 5 days after the embryo transfer.  I don't remember how long we waited but it was longer than 5 days.

    (My DH was deployed so it wasn't an option for us, so I've got nothing to offer on the timing question besides do what you feel comfortable with, but don't let fear control too much.)

    Me: 33, HSG & b/w normal; partial septate uterus   DH: 33, SA good but low morphology (3%)

    2013- 2 IVF cycles with PGD to prevent genetic disorder from being passed on. Both BFFN :(

    I can't remember what the RE said, but we were a little freaked so we waited a while. DH didn't want to mess anything up either, but I think we gave in around 10 weeks. Things have been fine, but it is a little more awkward as my bump has grown. DH is okay that sex has taken a bit of a back seat.
