Stomach bug moms come in!

LO hasn't been able to keep down a bottle since 10:00pm last night. Otherwise she is fine. Even if I try to give her a sip she throws it up. She's had a couple wet diapers this morning but they were on the smaller side. But like I said she seems to be feeling normal. She's playing, talking, smiling, and no fever. How long is it ok for this to go on. I called the office nurse to see if there was anything I could be doing at home, but still waiting on a call back. Having a sick baby is getting old!!!!!

Re: Stomach bug moms come in!

  • My LO had the stomach flu a few weeks ago. We took her in when she was throwing up every bottle and did not have pee pants for eight hours. They put her on zophram and pedialyte until the vomiting ceased for 12 hours then we got to introduce watered down formula. My LO was sick for a LONG time and ended up having to get fluids in the ER. I'm not saying that is going to happen, but I would recommend staying ahead of it if you can. I would take your kiddo into the doc.

  • We ended up in the ER for the stomach bug a few weekends ago after LO went 12 hours without a wet diaper. She got a script for zofran and they tried to give her pedialyte in the ER but she wouldn't take it. Hang in there!
  • We ended up at the ER as well after taking her to urgent care who recommended we go to the ER after they couldn't get more than 1 drop of blood at two separate sites for a cbc. She hadn't kept anything down for over 12 hours. She was still alert but her urine output had gone down considerably. She kept down a feeding right when we got to the ER so they wanted to see if she kept down her next feed. Instead she projectile vomited everywhere earning a bolus of IV fluids. After 24 hours she was over the virus and has been fine since then. Hang in there and be on the lookout for signs of dehydration. These little ones can get dangerously dehydrated fast!

  • The nurse called me back earlier today and said to bring her in tomorrow if she is still vomiting and to make sure she gets a minimum of an ounce of BM an hour. I had to be at work at 2 so my mom is watching her. So far she hasn't vomited since around 12 so that's good! Her wet diapers are low but still going once or twice every 4-6 hours. So hopefully things continue improving tonight!
  • Cece threw up Tuesday night & pedi said to do Pedialyte until Wednesday afternoon. She never threw up again, but has has diarrhea since then. It's been huge poopsplosions once a day. We were just getting into solids, but now I'm nervous to give her anything but BM. She's otherwise happy....
