Short story: team green induction on 3/31 (due to DD1's shoulder distosia & size), Kelsey Elizabeth was delivered at 8:47pm weighing 8lb1oz.
LONG story: DD woke up and puked at 5am, fortunately my parents were staying here, so I woke them up & told them my mom was on call to bring me to L&D while DH managed a sick toddler. Not exactly how we imagined a scheduled induction- the up side was supposed to be predictability.
Anyway, 6am arrival, I was at 2cm, 50%, and a little high, went right to pitocin, started at 2, upped it every 1/2hr, max is 20. 9AM DH arrived & tagged mom out. By 10:30 I had a good pattern, but not making much change... 1:00 I was close to a 3, my OB suggested we break my water, and advised an epidural before hand because it is excruciating when you're not very dilated. Epi was placed & water was broken... Still little change, epi was only effective on the left. By 5 I was at 4. Big disappointment since I was feeling one-sided contractions and working through them with the idea they were creating change.
at 7 the OBs tagged each other out (my practice only has 2), and we discussed options since I was at 6cm: turn off the pit, let my body re-set, and restart pitocin later- plenty of time since I was GBS- & no fever they wouldn't hold me to 24hrs with ruptured water, OR, push it for an hour- get the epi re-done and push pitocin over 20 (my hospital's normal max).
Baby was taking all the contractions well, and I just wanted to be done, so we went with upping the pit. Within an hour I felt a TON of pressure, and it was time to push. 3 contractions & 9 pushes later, IT'S A GIRL! And she was crying. DH cut the cord, I snuggled a slimy baby. It was amazing. That was a wildly intense hour. I cried like a baby, and started shaking like a leaf.
None of our names fit, so out of left field, she is Kelsey Elizabeth. She is a very mellow baby (her sister was not), and I'm in love all over again.
