DH says he wants to stay at the hospital but after seeing the tiny sofa on the hospital tour I'm pretty sure he'll just go home or maybe get a hotel room close to the hospital (the hospital we like is 45 min from home).
She will be staying with the in laws. Until we get home. Of course they'll come up for a visit but I think it will be easier on us for her to be in her own bed.
DD born August 17, 2010 DS born October 13, 2014 Baby #3 due March 2018
When I had my second (in the middle of the night) my parents come over and stayed at out place with DD1 and then DH went home in the morning and stayed with her. They came in to visit, but a 2 year doesn't last long in the hospital! I checked out early on post partum day 1 instead of 2. We'll plan for the same this time. Someone to stay with the kids during the delivery and then DH will be home with them until we are all back home together!

Our plan is for BIL and his FI to come stay with DS when we go to the hospital. Depending on the time of day baby is born, DH wants to come home to spend the night with DS, and then come back to the hospital in the morning. I'm hoping to come home ASAP after LO is born.
I haven't talked to my parents yet but I'm sure DD will stay with them and they will bring her up after the baby is born. DH is staying at the hospital with me (at least that is the plan) so I can sleep while I'm there and he can get some quality time with the baby (plus, he does the hospital diaper changes!).
We will have DD up to visit once or twice, but like PP said, a hospital and 2 year old don't mix all that well!
DS will stay with my parents when LO is born. DH stayed over night after having the baby, but this time it will depend on time of day. He slept horribly and I feel like it's important for him to get a good night's sleep since we'll have a toddler to take care of in addition to a NB. It'll definitely be a game time decision
DD will stay with my parents and our dog will stay with ILs. But I don't think DH will spend every night at the hospital with me. If I have a repeat c/s, I will stay 4 nights, and I think DH will probably go home with DD for some of that.

If you're having a c-section you may be in the hospital for 4 days... I was for my first baby. This time around we will have my mother or my MIL stay with our 1 yr old at our house and plus my hub will be home during the nights because it costs $800 for a private room (which we are not paying) so he has to leave the hospital by 10 PM.
I haven't talked to them about it, but I assume he'll be with my ILs, as well as the dog. They live about 40 minutes away but are the closest family. I'll have a RCS, so it sound be easy to plan.

If we're still living in the same place by then, my ILs will come to our house and take care of our daughter during the daytime, and MH is planning to (somewhat) go back and forth. The hospital is only about 10 minutes away, so we have some flexibility. I will want him to spend the night with me at the hospital, but my guess is that he will want to go home in the morning to get our daughter up for the day and spend a bit of time with her too.
B will stay with my mom when the baby is actually being born. My mom conveniently lives on the way to the hospital, so we can just swing by and drop him off.
After that, my mom will bring him up, but most likely my H will go home with him at night. My H went home and slept in his own bed during my two night stay last time - best decision we ever made. He was well rested when we finally all went home. Between my H, my MIL and my mom, someone will stay with B during my time in the hospital.
My parents will probably just come stay at our house with our boys.. or they'll take then to their house.. we only live like 5 min away.. with #2 I went to the hospital at like 4 am, so my dad came over and stayed with our oldest (mom was with me).. my husband stayed with me the whole time when both of them were born.. with number one we were there a total of 3 days (24 hours of induction and then 2 days of observation (gbs +) and with number two we were out after 24 hours!
DD will stay with my parents and our dog will stay with ILs. But I don't think DH will spend every night at the hospital with me. If I have a repeat c/s, I will stay 4 nights, and I think DH will probably go home with DD for some of that.
4 nights? Why so long?
I was in the hospital for 4 nights after my c/s with DD. I have a high pain tolerance but it was really awful…I just don't do well when I can't use my abs! Insurance will typically pay for 4 nights, so I just took my doc up on the offer because of how overwhelmed I was feeling with the idea of going home with a newborn after such a major surgery and being hopped up on pain meds. I fully intend to stay 4 nights with this one, too. DD will stay with my parents - they're her besties.
My mom will come stay with the boys. DH will come home the night that I'm in the hospital (assuming uncomplicated vaginal birth again, I'll only be there one night after the birth). It's what we did with DS#2 and it worked out great for us. DH doesn't have to sleep on the worlds most uncomfortable loveseat (he's about a foot taller than it is long) and gets a good night's rest, and I have the nurses there to help if I need it.
Since we are probably looking at a RCS my sister will come up and stay at our house with my son during the day. DH and I talked about him going home at night this time around. Last time he was not able to sleep at all in the room on the tiny pull out sofa. If he does go home this time around I am going to make more use of the nursery. Especially since we are having twins this go around. Last time I refused to send DS to the nursery and I probably should have. I needed sleep so badly by the time we got home from the hospital.
I'll have a RCS and DH will spend the majority of my hospital time at home with DS and the dogs. Unfortunately neither of us has family to help out. When we had DS, DH visited each day due to needing to be home to let the dogs out several times a day. We live an hour from the hospital. I did have a friend stay the 1st night last time.
All of our family is out of state. If my mom comes up and is there when the baby gets here, she will watch the kids. Otherwise, they are going to the sitter, or maybe the neighbor across the street if it's in the middle of the night. Last time we lived close to my ILs and my mom flew out because I had a scheduled induction.
My mom said she'll stay with DD while we're at the hospital, but I want her there for the delivery (she's a nurse). So MIL and FIL (who are awesome) will probably get DD at least during delivery.
I'm thinking that my brother-in-law who lives in town would come over when my DH and I head to the hospital, and I'm going to be letting my parents know when I go into labor, and they will probably head over (they live 2 hours away). We're thinking of asking them to stay at our house with DD and come visit us after the delivery is over. With them staying with DD, my DH can stay at the hospital with me, like we did last time.
Assuming everything stays low risk we will have a home birth, depending on time of day/night of labour he will either be there with us - I will have a doula - or we will send him to grandmas/auntie and uncles house for the birth. It'd be great if it just happened quickly over nap time....that's how I'm choosing to imagine things.
Huh... i actually havent thought about this yet. Im sure DD will either stay with my parents or my MIL will come down (lives 4 hrs away) I'm having a rcs so I guess I have time to plan everything out. Probably should start thinking about that though..
It'll depend when I give birth. If it's over the weekend the boys will probably stay with my parents' and DH will most likely stay with me in the hospital. If it's during the week, DH will probably take them home (possibly stay at my parents' house since they live right down the street from the hospital). Haven't really thought much about this.
I had DS2 in August and since both of my parents are teachers they were still on summer vacation so it worked out great for DS1 to stay with them.
We're still not sure on this. All our family lives in another state, 8 hours away. It would be awesome if my Dad could come out and stay with Ds. I have a friend with a son a few days younger than Ds, and she's offered to keep him also. I'm not sure how he would do without either of us overnight.

You have to share a room?! I can't imagine!!! We have private rooms and the hospital we will deliver at has a fold out couch/bed. It is big enough for normal height people, but my Dh is tall so his legs hang off. We are doing a repeat c/s so we will be there 3 nights and 4 days. My mil is flying in to stay with my dd & ds.
The nanny will move in for a few days to stay with DD and DH will be with me at the hospital. He'll likely make a trip home to visit DD at some point and bring her by to visit, but he'll spend the nights with me. That's actually the time I'll most want the extra hand since we won't send LO to the nursery.
