What is something in your car that is totally unnecessary but there on purpose?

Re: GTKY

I think I might have posted this, but I had a 2006 4Runner with 183K+ miles on it.  Took it in for an oil change, they noticed a leak....it would have been $3500 to fix it, so DH and I just made a decision to get a new car instead.

I got a used 2013 Highlander with 12,000 miles on it for a GREAT deal!  I love it!

It does, it has an awesome third row that folds down into being the cargo space when not in use (that might be how they all are, I have never had 3rd row before.  I rode in the 3rd row last weekend and it was comfy enough for me.

After watching Cujo a million years ago I keep water and crackers in my car at all times.  I realize that movie/book took place before the age of cell phones and I'd probably be perfectly fine if we were trapped in the car by a rabid dog but I can't get the scene where the mother was spitting into the little boys mouth because he was so dehydrated out of my head.  I will always have "Cujo water" in my car.  Always.

Sorry to take a morbid turn on this thread.  Lol.

  • My car is completely empty except for the baby's car seat and a teddy bear wearing a ford hoodie(they gave it to me at the dealership) ....it has it's own seat in the back :)

I wish my car was like this. There are tons of randoms in the armrest area, Driver console area, the back, the console..... The list goes on.

I have never driven anything but a "tank".  I know that they aren't the best for gas guzzling, but even hybrids have a horrible impact on the environment.  You can't win, so in a snowy climate, I would rather be surrounded by more metal.

  • Snow cables in my AWD Outback.  Ok, not *technically* useless, but never used.  Not *technically* unneeded either, because the national park rangers are liable to turn people back if they don't carry chains and the passes in the national parks are snow covered, even in AWD.  But still never used.

CDs. I have one of those visor things full of CDs in the door pocket of my car. I can't remember the last time I pulled a CD out of it.

ETA: There on purpose because what if I totally want to listen to one?? Back in the day, when said holder was purchased, I switched CDs constantly. Can't give it up.

  • I keep my car really organized. It's my thing. Product of being a military child I think. Also, I have an emergency kit for Cujo situations.

Nothing in mine, aside from an emergency car kit. How boring.
  • Yoga matt because you never know...
