Feeling pretty good considering. The nausea seems to be on it's way out, which is amazing. Had a lot of bleeding this week and found I have a small placental tear, so that's a little bit of a bummer. The baby looked super cute though! Still battling my insurance over the Makena shots. Blah.

Have an OB appt the week after next and a perinatologist appt the week after that.

Anyone else feeling super overwhelmed? The stupid tear put me in a bit of a funk. I feel like there is always going to be one more thing. Just want to peek in the future and know it's all going to work out. And that my co workers won't hate me after the thousandth doctor appointment.

  • Any updates?  Had my regular 4 week check-up yesterday...heard the HB which was awesome :-)  My BP was a little higher than normal though so that worried me a little...my OB didn't seem worried though.  I am just so scared of pre-e again, and it's still so early...last pregnancy my BP was perfect up until 31 weeks.

    Rants/Raves? I guess I have a rave?  I think we've unofficially settled on a name (we know it's a another boy)!

How are you feeling?  I am feeling pretty good overall, although I had a couple mornings of serious dry heaving this week so far.  M/s is definitely not over, but it's been less frequent so hopefully it will be totally done soon.

When is your next appointment?  I have my a/s on April 22nd.  Cannot wait to see him on the u/s for longer than a few seconds!

Any big milestones for you?  Nope.  Although today marks DS #1's EDD...hard to believe it's been 2 years already!

How are you dealing with the stress of a high risk pregnancy?  Just taking it one day at a time, and looking forward to each individual appointment.  I tell myself each day 'only X days til the next one'!

Rants: I started crinone last week and that shit burns! I'm not sure if that's normal or not. I also have almost migraine level headaches and i'm not sure if it's a side effect.
Feeling: M/S seems to slowly be easing up and I'm feeling pretty decent.

When is your next appointment? The 16th is the next appointment. It's another ultrasound to check my cervix.

Any big milestones for you? Nope

How are you dealing with the stress of a high risk pregnancy?  Just taking it one day at a time. I think it somewhat helps that i've been through this before with my last pregnancy, I already know what to expect for the most part.
@katesays, crinone as in the suppositories? I don't ever remember them burning, you may want to ask your OB about that. You may have a yeast infection that is making it worst? I got a yeast infection while taking those last pregnancy and I do remember it being rather uncomfortable.

  • Any updates? Rants/Raves? How are you feeling? Nothing super important to update about at all. I have just been hanging out trying to stay positive until my next appointment. Energy wise and sickness wise I have been feeling better. However , I am starting to feel alot more pressure and just general uncomfortableness down in my cervix/pelvis area so that is kind of scary.I have also been having more braxton hicks when I get in bed at night, so again, also kind of scary. I really hope the MFM will do a quick US to check cervical length next week.

When is your next appointment? My next appointment is on the 10th with the MFM. I am rather excited it is only a week away now. I will be 16 weeks.

Any big milestones for you? No big milestones yet.

How are you dealing with the stress of a high risk pregnancy?I have my good and bad days. I try to drink alot of water to keep the braxton hicks calmed down. I mostly just try to go day by day and week by week. If I start to think too far out it stresses me out. DH is traveling a ton this pregnancy so I am just anxious with how it will all go caring for DS with him gone alot of the summer.

  • Any updates? Rants/Raves? How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good.  SPD has been kicking my ass on and off (was feeling great for a few days, then went for a long walk yesterday and today I'm hurting a lot), but otherwise I'm feeling pretty good.  Finally got my Makena sorted out and all my stuff arrived yesterday, so I'm set to start injections tomorrow.

When is your next appointment?  Tomorrow!  It'll be my first cervical check appt with the MFM.  DH had to miss the last two ultrasounds, too, so hopefully he'll be able to come to this one.  My next OB appt is in 2 weeks.

Any big milestones for you?  I guess starting the progesterone shots.  That's the beginning of my actual treatment as high risk, and I'm hoping it'll ease my mind just knowing that we're doing something.

How are you dealing with the stress of a high risk pregnancy?  I just keep reminding myself that right now everything is fine, and there's nothing to worry about.  I mean I still freak out pretty often, since DD was so early with absolutely no warning and I'm afraid of that happening again. But I just have to remind myself that we're doing a lot more this time, and hopefully that should take care of any issues.  I also pull out my doppler and listen to the little guy's heartbeat when I'm stressed, and it always makes me happy to hear it :)

  • Let's See :

Any updates? Rants/Raves? How are you feeling?

Well I'm doing real good. I finally got back to the USA. I've seen my OB after a huge drama with one admin who didn't' want to schedule my appointment and was questioning my status. We patched up the holes with my labs that weren't done before. I also did a full workup as well.

    When is your next appointment?
Tomorrow morning - first appointment with the specialist.

    Any big milestones for you?
I survived my cerclage haha! 20 weeks is where my cervix tends to shorten - so I'm almost 19 weeks - so I'm nervous on watch for anything bad happening.

How are you dealing with the stress of a high risk pregnancy?
I feel like we've been doing alright - just waiting day by day. I feel kicks regularly so that helps...

  • Any updates? No updates! Been a very quiet week here!

Rants/Raves? My DH has been beyond amazing. He always goes above and beyond but in the last week I just want to cry.

How are you feeling? I'm finally starting to get last the nausea!! It started to alleviate around 17 weeks but at 18 I feel so much better!

When is your next appointment? It's supposed to be the 18th but I need to change that today because we're going to the beach!!

Any big milestones for you? Nope!

How are you dealing with the stress of a high risk pregnancy? I'm actually having a harder times this pregnancy than last. My hormones have been all over the place this time!

  • @KateSays, I'm sorry you're having such a bad reaction, that sounds awful!  I haven't heard of anyone having irritation from the shots, so maybe that's the way to go.  Good luck!  Let us know what your doc says.

  • @KateSays, I'm glad you're getting something different, but why won't they just give you the shots??  Are they not indicated for you?  Seems like they'd be simpler!

Quick update today, I had my MFM appt and all went well!  Baby looks good, and my cervix measured 4cm.  Woot.  And DH did my first Makena shot after we went home - the doc was going on about how much they hurt bcs they're oil shots, so I was starting to get anxious, but it was fine.  Really didn't hurt much at all.

  • @LTMama that is awesome news about your cervix!!  I am so anxious to see how mine measures, but I worry the MFM won't want to measure it via US since they are a very hands off practice until something comes up.

@katesays, I hope the new suppositories work better and stop causing a reaction. I am not sure if I want the shots or the suppositories?  I had the suppositories last pregnancy and I do think they kept my cervix from shortening even with all the contractions. Aren't the shots more effective in stopping preterm contractions? I thought I read that somewhere.

  • @suitern, do they not do US for you at each visit?  Mine has been, though I guess it makes sense for my specific issues.  This visit was specifically a cervical check, so it's the first thing they did.  Looking at the baby was a bonus lol.

@LTMama, I switched Drs. after my 12 week appointment to an office an hour away, so at my 16 week appointment I really have no idea what they are planning on doing. At the other office starting at 16 weeks they were going to monitor every 2 weeks for cervical length until 24 weeks and talk about suppositories/shots, but I have no idea what the MFM at the new practice is going to do. I switched because the other Drs. weren't really high risk specialists and the hospital didn't have a NICU. So the new hospital has a level 3 NICU that makes me feel more comfortable. So we will see....I am really going to push them to try to do something similar to the last hospital to help with my anxiety, which is getting higher by the day as this pregnancy goes along!

  • @suitern, good call on finding a hospital/NICU situation that helps with your anxiety!  Hang in there.  I assume for cervical checks you'll get ultrasounds, but I'm not an expert.

    Good luck!
