Rolling over and crappy sleep

So, LO learned to roll over this week and now he is waking multiple times a night because he rolls to his tummy and gets ANGRY. I go in there, rock him back to sleep, nurse him sometimes, and then put him down and he rolls right back over. Any advice? STMs? Suck it up buttercup is an acceptable answer. Just wondering if I'm missing something.

Re: Rolling over and crappy sleep

  • DS started doing the same thing. Rolling over and getting pissed. He'd just scream with his face in the mattress. It took a few nights of crappy sleep, but now hel'll just roll himself back over, or sleep on his side. Hope yours does the same!

  • LO just started doing this. Luckily it doesn't seem to bug her much in her sleep...she usually just stays asleep on her belly if she does it at night. But nap time is a different story! I think we just have to ride it out. I don't remember it with DD1, probably because she never slept anyway, but with DS I think it was a few nights of crap sleep. Eventually they'll learn to roll back over or just stay on their stomach.

    In the same boat.
I've been up with LO at least every hour tonight. Almost too tired to write this...

  • J is rolling and sleeping crappy too. Except he rolls to his side, and when he can't hold that position he freaks out and kicks until he wakes up. We still have to swaddle him for naps, ugh.
  • We went through this for a couple weeks and then it got better. She still hasn't figured out how to roll to her back again but she sort of settled into the tummy position.

  • It's a new trick. It shouldn't last long. Both of mine did this. Pissed DS1 off for 2 nights, then he decided he liked tummy sleeping. DS2 did it for 1 night every hour, the next night a couple times, then stopped.

Question: Do you still put your LOs in sleep sacks (if you did to start with)? My DS wears one, but I feel like his legs get all tangled in it. He's not making it to his belly, even though he's able to roll onto his belly and then back to his back. He does so during the day. At night he's just rolling to his side then freaking out and flailing his legs until he's wide awake.. I wonder if he'd stay asleep if he just made it all the way to the belly?

(I'm so sleep deprived and know that is very wordy. I hope it at least makes some sense....)

  • I tried sleep sacks but my husband takes LO out of them. He feels it traps heat and overheats the baby.

  • @F47‌ We stopped using the sleep sack a while ago, but my LOs reaction is the same. Does it during the day, can't at night, CRAZY legs.

@RanFan28 does your LO just wear a sleeper to bed? (I don't have a lot of hope the lack of a sleep sack will help based on your feedback, though. Womp, womp.)
