Has anyone here ever tried Stitch Fix? It's basically an online personal styling service-- you tell them your size, style, budget and they send you a box 'o' stuff along with styling advice, little cards that tell you how to wear the items and you can keep as much or as little as you like. It seems to be all the rage on the Working Moms board and they got me interested (though I usually never have any trouble shopping for myself!) so I thought I'd give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised! They sent me a pair of awesome jeans that fit like a glove, a top that I loved (but probably wouldn't have chosen on my own) and a couple more items that I liked but the fit was slightly off and a necklace that I also liked but that was too expensive for what it was. What I liked the most was that the little cards showed the items styled with lots of different accessories, which is exactly the area that I get lazy about so I thought it was really helpful.
I know in some other threads some people were talking about how they were feeling dowdy or in a rut and this might be something that you guys would enjoy because it takes all the work of shopping out and sends you pieces that you can mix and match. I swear I'm not with the company or pushing it-- I just thought it was cool and it was fun to get a box of surprise items!

Re: Anyone try Stitch Fix?
I had the same thought about the sizing but they nailed it for me, especially on the pants and I'm notoriously hard to fit-- I'm 5'11 with a small waist and wider hips-- so things never hit in the right spots. Plus, it's so easy to send back that there's almost no risk. There is a $20 styling fee but you get that back as a credit with your purchase. If you decide to try it, let me know and let me PM you my referral link so I can get more credit!
Even though I like to shop-- this sounded interesting to me.
My hesitation is that it seems you are paying retail for everything which is a cardinal sin.

@VioletteGrayskies Check out Gwynnie Bee. It's for Size 10+ only. It's not the same as Stitch Fix (i.e. no stylist), it's more like Netflix for clothes. You pay a monthly subscription fee (the cost of which depends on how many items you want "checked out" at a time). Then you add items to your closet and the decide, based on availability what to send you. If you want to purchase it, you can. Whether you get your money's worth depends on how good you are about sending items back.
Depending on the material, I still definitely use the wash machine but ours is one without an agitator, which I think makes a huge difference in how the clothes are handled in the machine. I hand wash stuff that specifically calls for it but not much else. I almost NEVER use the dryer on my clothes except for cotton socks and underwear, cheap t-shirts and lounge wear. I hang or flat dry everything.
Wow, size 10 is kind of a weird but good place to start. It probably opens them up to a lot more business.
