FFFC

I have one that I've been thinking of this week since LO started daycare part time. I have realized I'm selfish. I really want time to do things I want to do. When LO was at daycare I missed him, but I LOVED taking a long shower without worrying about crying. It was wonderful to play on my computer. I enjoyed a nap that wasn't ended by crying. At bedtime I just want him to go to sleep so I can sit down for a minute and relax. I love my son so much, but miss my pre-baby freedom more than I thought I would.

  • Thanks @monkeybutt61612‌! I know it will take a mental adjustment! :)
  • @MarBee1214‌ I still cry at ASPCA commercials. Ugh!!! I was never emotional before - rarely cried. Now all it takes is for the wind to blow and the water works start!

I change the channel when the ASPCA commercials come on. I can't handle it. It makes me hug our 2 rescue dogs.

I hate my job. With a passion. I feel like a bad mom not being home with my son. He's with my MIL and our nephew who is 6 months older, but I still feel like shit over it. She's a great lady and raised 5 of her own kids. But I feel like I'm going to be missing so much. Makes me tear up. I came into work early today so I can leave and go get him early (only perk to my job). We have a surprise birthday party to go to tonight and I already don't want to leave him again. I feel so guilty after being away from him all day. Ugh. Rant over. Pity party for one! My office.

Ekkk!! That would make me nervous too! Both of ours were still puppies when we got them. I think that makes a difference. We plan to always rescue our dogs, but if there's no puppies, I would be hesitant too!

  • I'm definitely going to be another floor sleeper when we move her to her crib. @bethughknee‌ I've told DH but I'm not sure he believes me lol

  • So yea, my husband watches wrestling - like WWF - wrestling. And I watch it with him. Yes, we both know its not real, but it can be quite entertaining. They are doing two of their big shows here this weekend and I would totally go (if I could peel myself away from my girl), but I'm afraid of the other people that would be there. Pot, meet kettle.

  • I'm really afraid we don't do enough tummy time. He seems to throw up every time we do it, so it's really hard for me to put him there knowing he's going to vomit and get really upset. I'm trying to do better and pick times when he's not as likely to get sick. :(
  • @nolagal79, my sister and I were obsessed with WWE wrestling growing up. Like, we would throw tantrums until my parents gave in and let us order the events on PPV. I started watching it while on mat leave and could easily see myself getting sucked into it again, if DH didn't make dumb comments every time it was on.

  • I know others have mentioned liking the smell of breast milk but I feel like I'm kind of obsessed. It makes me happy when I leak because then I can snell the nursing pad (several times) before throwing it away. I almost always smell the bottles after pumping. Maybe because it's how A smells? I think that's what I'm most sad about with weaning. I need my life back! Right? :/

  • My first pp period started today. I should have known it would come back sooner rather than later since DD is now sleeping 7-8 hours at night, but it still made me sad [and a little irritated, since I hadn't gone out to get any pads or tampons].

I've been back at work full time for two weeks and STILL haven't gotten to work on time. This whole morning pump/get the kids ready/drop them off bit is harder than I thought it would be.

I ate my weight in Werther's caramel squares this morning. My sweet tooth is so bad nowadays.

I totally smell the milk after I pump at work! I feel like I'm trying to collect all the breastmilk smells I can because it's so fleeting. I've never met a toddler who smelled as good as breastmilk. Nope.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one whose still an emotional mess. I maintain my composure much more successfully than I had earlier on but I'm still not 100%. At JJ's two month appointment they had me fill out a PPD survey and I was almost in tears in the waiting room filling it out. It's not so much PPD I'm worried about because I could never imagine not loving and caring for him but I struggle saying "I'm depressed" out loud. I'm nervous to return to work or possibly start a new job and not being able to keep it together.

..and in lighter confessions: this kid smells bad. He dribbles formula always and it's gross. Thank goodness he loves baths and doesn't mind me wiping him down with wipes always.

  • @peanutmuse - I was going to post about tummy time too.  So far LO hates tummy time and has shown zero interest in rolling over.

DH has been on a business trip for 4 days, and though I love his help, I'm relishing the alone time with DD and doing it my way! Also, the other day, I let her cry just for a minute or two while I finished 'fluffing my kitty'. It's so rare that I can find alone time ;)

  • @benjaminsmommy16‌ I have the same fear. My kids sleep 12 hours a night and are super calm. I feel like I'm cconstantly waiting for them to turn on me.
  • I'm starting a new part time job tomorrow at an ice cream place and I'm nervous to leave DS. It's only a couple hours a day and it's when DH is home but I'd just rather be with DS instead. Like most of you ladies, I just like how I do things rather than DH's way. I'm going to be a mess tomorrow, I can feel it.

I hear phantom baby crying. Yesterday, I almost asked DH to check the monitor because I thought I heard A crying upstairs. I was BFing him at the time.

Yeah....TMI confession here. I was sitting down on the potty. Kinda an emergency #2 situation. I thought I heard A crying and jumped up to check. I was totally doing the turtle head walk there and back. Almost had a bad situation. :\">

  • After reading yesterday's UO thread, I'll confess this, because I know it's flammable, and I'd never say it IRL. Part of me wishes that people who use the term child abuse liberally could be forced to experience what abuse victims have endured. I realize wishing for someone to be beaten is horrible, but use of that phrase makes me think people believe that what I experienced wasn't that bad.
I have no idea what you have gone through, but based on this, I can only assume it was horrible. I am so sorry you experienced abuse as a child, no child should ever be mistreated like that :( And I hope no one ever thinks it "wasn't that bad".

I've read some studies about these and while research hasn't shown that they will make your kid smarter, kids do really seem to like them! I see nothing wrong with them if they are watched for small amounts of time here and there. We actually have one for DD and I've put it on for her a couple of times because she loves to listen to the music and sounds on it.

I don't think they will make DS a genius or anything. I just noticed that he will stare at the TV when he's in his bouncy seat. I figure I could put one of the Baby Einsteins on and it would be more appropriate for when I need a few minutes to eat.

I didn't mean to imply that you thought it would make your DS a genius. Sorry if that came across wrong. It's just that a lot of parents feel bad buying them because of all of that debate over them. I was just agreeing with you that these videos are okay.

  • @km_md I'm sorry that my post came across as cranky. I didn't mean it that way. I was just agreeing with you that I don't think they will make my baby super bright, but that they are an okay thing to show the kiddos.
