6 week growth spurt

edited April 2014 in February 2014 Moms
Forgive me if this is a repeat post- I searched and didn't find it on the Feb board so I wanted to share. This link helped me understand (especially while BF) what was going on with my little dude recently. I also had DH read it so he could help/understand better. I know some of us are past this point and some aren't there yet but since its also during a "wonder week" I thought it would be worth putting on here :)

Re: 6 week growth spurt

  • This is probably a very silly question but does this happen during the 6th week or usually the week they turn 6 weeks old. Reason is, LO turned 5 today and he will not sleep more than 30 minutes at a time and seems more hungry than normal.

  • Honestly I think it's a loose idea because my guy was 7 weeks yesterday and I think he's just finishing. It's all relative when it come to babies!
  • I found this article so encouraging and helpful. Especially when it's 4 am and LO is screaming bloody murder and I can't get her to eat.
  • Thank you for this. My LO is 5w 1d, so we are approaching this and it's good to know what is coming! I think I will also have my DH read this.

  • DS is 7 weeks today and all of this is exactly what we are going through. I showed it to DH too. Thanks for sharing. I really needed this today.

  • We are just here now and I was feeling discouraged and feeling better now that I've read this. Thank you.

  • I think we are here, as well, and it is pure hell. LO cried basically every second she was not sleeping yesterday, and she barely slept. Nothing I could do soothed her. Her poor little voice is hoarse from all the crying. She did nurse more frequently, but didn't want it every time she was crying. Is that normal, as well, (the crying?). Also, I think I read at 6 weeks they will stop pooping at every feeding, but is it normal to suddenly go to once per day? I'm completely worn out and at the end of my rope, I guess knowing if it were normal (or not) would help. Thanks, ladies!!

I can't say what's normal or not (because new mom) but a new thing we've noticed when we can't figure out how to soothe him is to put him down. Not in a swing, or a RnP, just on a blanket on our huge ottoman or on the couch beside us. He stares at the ceiling fan or looks around and just chills out. Maybe that will work maybe it won't but its worth a shot!
  • I'm hoping we are near the end of this! I don't know how I could manage another sleepless night! And my nipples…my poor nipples are wanting to retire they hurt so bad!!

Our doctor told us baby could even go every few days without pooping. We usually go every other day and I feel so bad cause LO screams in pain when trying to go!
