Do your kids do this yet? My son has said "Hi Daddy" and "Up please", but other than that he only says one word at a time. It amazes me because the little girl I watch (also an August 2012 baby) can speak full sentences. Just curious if my guy is behind.
i don't think your DS is behind at all- 2 word sentences are common for this age. i think 3 word senteces are more of a 2-year-old milestone. there's lots of variation in language development, and girls tend to talk earlier than boys anyway.
DS started with 2 word combos at around 18 months. now he is starting to say a few three word sentences, but they're still pretty simple- like "i broke it" (boy do we hear that one a lot!) and "where daddy go?"
DS is still saying mostly one word at a time. He has a few 2 word "sentences". He says "up there", "more crackers", "more peas", "hi kitty" and "bye kitty". And he says "where are you" when we are looking for the kitty. He's a little obsessed with our cat!
I don't think he's behind. At this age all kids just do things differently. I've mentioned before but DD1 was speaking full sentences at this age. DD2 isn't talking much at all but I know it will come.
