Anyone have LOs seeing physical therapist?

At 9 mo appt, pedi was a little concerned about LO gross motor skills and fact that she's not crawling, doesn't go from laying to seated position or pull up. Went to PT today and they evaluated her and gave us some exercises to try at home. She needs more tummy time which should be interesting bc she hates it. Just wondering if there are others out there going through same thing and if its working and LO is progressing.

Re: Anyone have LOs seeing physical therapist?

  • We see pt weekly... at first we saw pt for dds torticolis, now we have continued with pt at the pedi suggestion for gross motor developmental delays due to a congenital deformity of her feet.

Dd doesn't bear any weight on her feet when put upright, but she has recently learned to crawl, so that is a big accomplishment for her! Hopefully we will find out soon what our options are in fixing dds ankle & feet problems.

  • LO is not doing any of those things either.  She's showing interest but that's been happening for what feels like a month and half.  We work on things often and it's still not happening.  Went to our 9 month check and it was not a concern at all to our pediatrician. She didn't officially start rolling until about 6 months, though she could do it sooner.  I really think it's a personal choice.  I've worked on me stopping catering to all of her needs.  For example handing her toys etc.  I'm working on getting her to get them.  She scoots and pushes everywhere just no crawling and pulling up.
  • DD doesn't do any of that it, but the pedi wasn't concerned. She will get there eventually.
    This for us too!

  • I'm glad to hear other pedi's were not concerned. @PinkPuffyHeart2‌ and @QueSyrah‌, is it helping?

  • It is definitely helping, and we've only been doing PT for a week and 1 day.

  • My LO doesn't do that stuff either but my pedi wasn't concerned so I'm just trying to encourage tummy time on my own.

  • Q&S see a PT every Friday due to their prematurity.  It's so helpful.  Honestly, I have learned so much about the development of babies from this and they wouldn't be nearly as far as they are now if it weren't for her and the exercises she gives us each week.  I would do it in a heart beat.
