5W2D, brown spotting/discharge?

Hey all!

I need advice before I go crazy, I'm at 5w2d and this morning I woke up to brown discharge in my underwear and on toilet paper.  I noticed this after POAS.  According to Clear Blue w/ weeks estimator I'm progressing as normal (3+) and the cheapo one had the darkest positive line I've had yet.

We haven't had sex (feeling too awful) so it's not that and I'm cramping slightly but I have been since day 1 of implantation (round ligament stretching or whatever).

I'm planning on calling my doctor but that won't be for hours as I'll be teaching for the next 3.5 hours.  Anyone else have these symptoms?  Advice?

With this pregnancy I had brownish spotting, it turned pinkish tan and I did have one swipe of bright red. After four days it was gone.   It was after my positive but still before my missed period (happen to get my positive 6 days before) so it was early on. I was worried, called my provider - there is really nothing that can be done anyway. It can be perfectly normal (I'm fine, almost 10 weeks, healthy hb). My last pg was a MMC - I had absolutely no spotting or bleeding. It's different for everyone, try not to worry. If it gets to be heavy bleeding, call your doctor.

  • Thank you for the info!  My doctor got back to me, I'm going in for bloodwork, progesterone and such.   Now it's just the waiting over the weekend to get #s back, FX!
  • I had the same experience with spotting. Mine was mostly brown and pink, but a couple of times it was darker red, but only for a short amount of time and not heavy like a period. I was so worried, and I had HCG betas done. They all came back normal. Doubling just like they should be. I had an ultrasound (saw a flickering heartbeat) and was checked and measured at 5weeks, 5 days. At that time they told me I had a mild yeast infection and my cervix was irritated. That's what caused the spotting. I wasn't having any other noticeable symptoms. My doctor told me the changes in hormones can irritate the tissue around your cervix causing it to bleed. I'm 8 weeks now and all seems to be fine.
  • This happened to me around that time and was very scary too, it was a brown/pinkish discharge. Everything turned out normal and was fine....
