Lo will be 6 mos on the 18th. I did buy some at the store this weekend but have not started for some reason. Is that mean? She grabs at everything and really watches us eat. Maybe I should go ahead and try them.
I don't really have a reason why I have not. I didn't start my son on baby food til 6 mos so that is just what I planned for dd. but part of me feels bad that I'm keeping something from her. What do you all think?

May Siggy: Baby in disguise
He can sit up pretty well on his own and is SUPER interested in food, so I'm confident he will be ready when he hits 6 months. He goes to bed at 7-7:30pm, so I'm not sure when we will actually feed him because we don't have dinner until he is asleep. I guess it it all about adjusting at this age! We will probably start in earnest in about 2 weeks.
Eta: I'm kinda scared to do anything other than baby food because I'm afraid she will choke. I've only ever done baby food with my son til he was like 10 mos. I'm a nurse and know CPR but it freaks me out to think of her choking on something.
I have been really nervous the couple of times we offered LO solids, so I may end up doing a bit of both, too.
Eta. Dd will be 6 mos on 4/19.
Franco Paul born 6/4/15 at 39 weeks. Mila Francesca born 10/19/13 at 37 weeks. Both born via C-Section after 6 years of fertility treatments, disappointments and losses. Love them!!
We haven't started yet. She is ready and we were going to start this past weekend, but she wasn't feeling very good... LO will be 6 mo. on Monday.

It is definitely harder to do solids once a day than to just nurse, but I try to think of it like "preventative medicine," because I would never be too lazy to give my baby a necessary medicine!
Yeah, we started close to four months so we could introduce a wide range foods before six months, because we usually only do two new foods per week.
And we know we are not 100 percent preventing anything, but any reduction of risk is definitely worth it to us because food allergies are such a pain to deal with...
Definitely not saying that people should do it this way. It was just a question and I was answering it. No biggie.
Baby #2 M/C 4/5/16
Sorry for that! Definitely not intended. Just trying to say that I totally would love to be in "camp too lazy to start solids because breastfeeding is going well and so easy/not messy/doesn't require baths and a change of clothes after every feeding," so I sometimes have to remind myself that we are doing this for a reason--not just to torture ourselves.
Because feeding babies is the worst! I love when they get to 10+ months and we can just give them pretty much whatever we are eating without being so specific on shapes, consistency, cooking, etc.
I'm glad to see that there are some other O13 LOs that haven't started. even though DS has special reasons, it is nice to know he's not way behind everyone else!
For us I have decided to do a combination of purées and blw. I read Rapley's book and Meade's Wholesome Baby Food Guide (love this book and use it as a reference a lot). It lists foods appropriate for age and gives a lot of recipes. I found it easier and less stressful to combine both methods.
Making purées has proven super easy and it takes barely any fruit/veggie to create a nice freezer stash if you go with making your own and use ice cube trays for one ounce portioning. Then you just decide what you want your baby's menu is to be for the day and thaw accordingly.
tl/dr: it's super cute to see baby try new things!
