I did this to DD when she was a few weeks old. She jerked her finger right as I clipped, and cried
hard for a good 5 minutes (although it felt like 20). I had to grab a cloth to put light pressure on her finger because it was bleeding. I was crying right along with her and felt like the worst mom, it was awful.

I talked to my friends and family members who are moms, and a lot of them said they had done the same thing. Made me feel better to know I wasn't alone. They also all said they either never used or stopped using the nail clippers and just peeled or bit the nails off. I thought this sounded weird and potentially painful, but I tried it and it is sooo much easier. While I'm breastfeeding her I bite the corner of each nail and just peel it off. The nails are really soft so they peel off easily and never peel too short.

  • WTF mom,
Stop obsessing about whether DD is too hot, too cold, her diaper is on too tight, etc. If she was fussy, I would do something about it, but when she is lying there completely content I'm not going to worry about adding/removing layers or loosening her diaper. Relax, she's fine.

  • WTF DS- WHY WONT YOU NAP?! I can't get anything done!

  • Wtf birth control pills! Nobody needs to bleed 1.5 weeks before their period is due...and then get a period. The point of you is so I know exactly when my period is coming.

I did this the other day. We were both wailing. It was very sad. I am never cutting her nails again. She may win the Guinness record for baby with longest nails.

I had a different experience. I cut her nails and was happy to see she didn't care. Then we went to the grocery store and I look down at my hand and see a trace of blood, I was confused, but then grabbed Abby's hands and her pointer finger was all bloody along with the fingers around it and her sleeve of her shirt. I raced to the restroom to wipe it with a wet paper towel to see how bad it was. I just cut at the edge of her fingertip but it didn't phase her. I was still upset and I'm a little nervous to cut them again too. But as she scratches at the boob, I'm building the courage back up. Sharp little nails! I can't bite them! They get so dirty! I was never a nail biter in the first place so it just grosses me out.

  • I'm still lightly bleeding from delivery. I'm not on any bc and it isn't my period. Mostly when I use the bathroom but the liner is necessary. It has been over 10w. I was cleared at 6 and mentioned the bleeding and ob said it was fine. Now I have to call again but I've been out of work so long from bed rest and then staying home with Abby, my health ins no longer covers me and it was too expensive to keep while I'm not getting paid. Abby is the only one covered. I get it back June 1st but really hoping not to have to pay OOP to go see the ob.

I read this that your hubs cried for 30 min and thought awwwww so sweet. Damn I'm tired.

FTR: my hubs won't even try to cut or even touch LOs fingers. I file DDs when she's sleeping or feeding.
