PR Easter Basket ideas

So the other day I half-jokingly told Reese the Easter Bunny was hopping over our house this year. She is 2 and a half, so that didn't phase her and looked at me and said: "okay mommy."

But seriously, I have NO clue what DH and I should put in her basket. The two things she wants are way too expensive for Easter in my eyes (as a single item)--plus, Reese knows they are too expensive and insists that she will get them for her birthday. We were actually at Toys R Us contemplating picking the smaller of the two up for her--the Octonauts pod, and she refused to get it because it was too expensive and not her birthday.

Anyway, so she has every single arts and craft thing ever made, enough crayons/markers/coloring books to open up a Crayola factory, an absurd amount of puzzles, bubbles, etc.

Due to her egg and peanut allergies, there isn't that much candy that we could put in there.

I need some major help!

Maybe make some baked goods because of her allergies? In egg shapes? And focus on dyeing and finding eggs. I don't think Easter baskets need to be huge. I don't want to set my kids expectations too high lol. Or they have window clings at the dollar store that are fun to stick on you could put in the basket. Headbands? Tights? A cute outfit from the Easter bunny? Anything she might need.

Edit: I suck at reading and writing.

  • I love you and Reese. Y'all are amazing.

Last year Beau got maracas, a train whistle, toothbrush, toothpaste, a kite, socks, sunglasses, jellybeans, playdough, stickers, and sidewalk chalk shaped like eggs.

These were small enough to fit into a basket last year, though. Not sure if that'll happen again this year.

I hope you guys have an amazing Easter. It is apparently the season for great new things!! You deserve it!

  • I did have those ideas go through my head, most of them at least--but right now she refuses to eat anything sweet (cookies, etc). No lie, she has at least 40 puzzles, she is set with clothes.

Like she seriously doesn't NEED anything. At all.

But this is also the kid that since January hasn't gone a full week (at most 3 days) without getting something new in the mail.

  • Stickers? I know DD can never have enough stickers. So she got a big easter sticker book and a small coloring book that also has stickers. Cute socks? Maybe a cute duck or bunny stuffed animal?

Hmmm, maybe things to do together? Shrinky dinks? Make a stepstone? Make candles? Ooh, is she too young for an easybake oven?
i like the easy bake oven. Right now she loves helping me in the kitchen. We do a LOT of projects together--she loves arts and crafts and painting.

I couldn't sleep tonight so I started looking on Amazon and TRU for ideas--figuring it is coming up soon.

  • What about shoes? A swim suit? Crayons you can use in the tub? A yearly pass or tickets to a museum/zoo/children's garden? What about ice cube trays in fun shapes. You can do so many fun DIY activities with them.

  • she may be too young, but my mom used to create a string maze in our dining room. One end of the string was attached to the Easter basket or "big" Easter gift (i.e. a not fancy porcelin doll) and she'd twist a path around the room for us to follow/detangle. I always loved that.

Another year we played warmer/cooler to find the basket, another time the plastic eggs had combination of coins or scavenger hunt clues to help you gind your way to the basket/present. Those were always fun.

Red vines or other gummy candy if you want to give junk food. Jewelery or music box (wind up style), harmonica or kazoo, Piggy bank at the end of a trail of coin filled eggs (then she could save up towards her expensive item / provide matching funds). Books, outdoor play equipment, age appropriate board game or deck of cards (i.e
go fish, old maid, crazy 8s), new set of sand toys. Empty photo album with inexpensive camera (are they still doing poloraoids? or regifted older camera) and stickers to decorate.

  • I usually do outdoor spring/summer items.  My kids birthdays are in the winter so things like bikes, baseball stuff, soccer balls etc are all things i'd end up getting for the summer anyway so might as well make it an easter bunny gift.  Now that they have accumulated a lot of that stuff its a little harder.  Last year we searched and couldn't come up with anything.  We ended up making little decorated slips of paper with "activities" from the easter bunny...things like a trip to the local ice cream store, free passes to the indoor ice rink etc.

This year I got them some tradeable fatheads (hockey figures that cling to their wall, though they have a ton of different ones, not just sports). I got some sidewalk chalk and a frisbee. I also picked up a book and bathing suit for one child, need to find something for the other still, he isn't into "character" stuff anymore and is more picky so I am not sure what sort to buy.  I think I might also throw a summer outfit in there...again, something I will need to buy anyway.
  • I always do fun socks. Target has Disney Jr. socks in the Dollar Spot. I got E Sofia, Doc McStuffins, and Minnie for her basket. I know you said she has a bunch of arts and crafts stuff, but you didn't mention paints specifically. This is E's favorite thing to do lately. I put her in the bath tub in her diaper and let her go to town with fingerpaints. You said she has bubbles, but what about colored, scented, or even edible ones? Glow sticks? Or some new bath toys?

  • Maybe some movies? I also like to get summer outdoor toys in the Easter basket.
