What are some of your LO's favorite veggies and how do you prepare them? I eat veggies, not as much as I should, but am trying to change that drastically so LOeats healthy. Curious how your LO is best liking their veggies prepared.
LO is not too into the finger foods yet, so he gets his veggies mostly pureed. He likes sweet potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, butternut squash, and probably some others I am forgetting.
Ty loves asparagus (it has surpassed avocado as his favorite food). I melt butter in a pan and add the asparagus, sprinkle some garlic and toss around until it all is that bright green, then I put the lid on the pan and let sauté for 10-15 min, tossing every 3-4 minutes. I give him a whole stalk and put some cheese on top for me, H, and Bradley
Last night we tried sweet potato bites and they were a HUGE hit for the whole family. I diced 1 sweet potato into 1/2 in cubes (ish) and sprayed olive oil onto tin foil on a baking sheet. spread the diced potatoes in one layer, sprayed the potatoes and added a little sea salt and pepper, baked at 425 for 12 min, tossed them, and then for another 10 (they were in the oven at the same time as the chicken thighs I was roasting). They came out perfect and everyone loved them.
Steamed peas and sautéed zucchini are favourites. I just sliced the zucchini into rounds, sprinkled with some garlic powder and sautéed in vegetable oil. She ate the entire zucchini.
Grayson will eat all the vegetables if they are purées. If I put anything on his tray he isn't interested in it and he ends up feeding the dog but if I'm eating he wants me to feed him off my plate and he's happy.
We have an asparagus lover. I cut the stalk in half and sautee them. She also likes green beans. Carrots, not so much. I need to buy squash this weekend and start giving it to her.
Thanks ladies. I was a little hesitant on trying some veggies like broccoli and asparagus but after reading all your posts, I'm going to try them. Showed this post to DH too so he's on board now for trying more veggies. If it were up to him, LO would be eating only purees still bc he constantly worries about her choking anytime I give her table food. But if the bump ladies say it, then he's ok with it
Re: LO's favorite veggies??
We are just starting finger foods full time...
