The pedi freaked me out

Nathan had his 2 month check up today and is exactly 2 months. She commented that he had really poor head control and that of it didnt improve she'd want to call in a birth to 3 consult. Kind of confused though because I thougt he was good. He can lift his head up to at least 45 degrees and is super close to rolling over. He pushes up with his hands and if you pull him up from laying down by his hands he holds his head in line with his body.

I can't really compare him to DS1 because he was super early on most of his physical milestones. So what do you think? Is he behind or did he just not perform well today?

  • Hmm my son will be 2 months tomorrow and he is pretty much where you describe your son to be. I always thought physical milestones were not set hard. We have our 2 month app on Friday. I'll let you know what our pedi says but I don't think it's much to worry from what you described. Maybe the pedi is just being super cautious- some of them tend to be.

  • My two month old sounds like you described, as well. The doctor lifted her up by her hands into a sitting position, but from what I remember, that's the only test he did. I was slightly distracted by the whole "they're about to stick my child with huge needles" thing though, so I probably missed some stuff.

Can you call back to ask follow up questions? Ask what she meant, and what she expected to see?

  • @bribbon‌ Thanks for the perspective. You'd think I'd be less neurotic the second time around. Nope!

@Codypup I definitely could call back. I explained to her what he could do and it kind of seemed like she thought I was lying. Weird.

My LO is no where near rolling over. He loathes tummy time so he gets his neck control from laying on my looking around. Try not to worry, I understand easier said then done. It may just be your docs preferred route if care. ((Hugs))
