This is one of my pet peeves about Facebook. It's soooo fucking easy to just post about something but do nothing about it. While it's awesome to raise awareness, just saying it on Facebook doesn't actually HELP the cause. Donating your time, money, and other resources and then telling people about your experience is a much better way to raise awareness.

But I think for me, it's just annoying to be inundated with ribbons and memes about something that I already think about every single day. I don't need an awareness day! But I feel that way about most "awareness posts" on FB. It's just annoying and thoughtless clicking of the "Share" button.

I guess that's what I'm getting at...it's way too easy and thoughtless. Whereas actually doing something takes effort, but actually does something. I think an awareness day/month is good because it give a forum to talk about "the cause." (Any cause...breast cancer, child abuse, autism, etc.) But I can completely understand how those actually affected would feel like it was insincere.
