Usually I pack my hospital bags at 35-36 weeks given thats when I usually start to get to 3cm in my past pregnancies. Twins is a whole different ball game. When do you recommend packing them?
Hmmm...I probably should have packed my bag after I was put on modified bed rest at 27 weeks. I never really packed an "official" hospital bag. When I went to L&D for what ended up being the real thing. I had a backpack with toiletries and chargers.
My water broke at 6am. I was 36w4d. I had to waddle around packing my bag & one for my 2 yr old. My DH was out of town for 10 more days. I thought I could wait til my scheduled section. Babies had different plans. Each step that I took I was leaking. I took one of my DD's diapers and used it as a pad. The doc & nuraes got a kick out of that.
We had almost everything done by 28 weeks and the hospital bag packed at 30 weeks. I was never put on bed rest but I'm so thankful we had most of the stuff done early because I'm HUGE now and everything takes forever to do.
With my oldest, I packed after my water broke at 37w1d.
I never did get to pack my bag for the twins - my water broke at work and I went straight to the hospital. H gathered stuff the next day. My big one stayed with my mom and I'll be honest, I have no idea when/if a bag was packed for him at all. Oh well.
DH begged me to pack mine because he kept having dreams of me going in to labor. So I packed mine around 30-32w. I was able to pack maternity I no longer fit in and bought mini toiletries so it isn't inconvenient having to go in and out of it.
I am going to do it today! I am 35 weeks today, and have a Csection scheduled for April 3rd. I am not all that prepared this time around, I had a bag packed much earlier when I had my daughter.
The hospital is only 10 minutes from my home so I am not worried if I forget something.
I started at 34 weeks, but did not finish. I ended up delivering unexpectedly at 35 weeks and had nothing I really needed. It wasn't the end of the world but I wish I'd been more prepared. I'd say after 30 weeks to be safe.
I had an emergency c/s at 34+4 so I'd probably say 30 weeks to be safe like some of the other ladies have said. I had started mine but I didn't finish. I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant with a singleton and I'm going to pack mine early this time just in case. I didn't like being stuck without my bag.
I started gathering stuff last week and really want to have bags packed this week. I'm 31 weeks and just feel like something could happen at any time! But we only live 10 min from the hospital so it's not the end of the world if I'm not 100% ready. My labor and recovery was so tough with DD that I don't think I touched my hospital bag expect to throw on some clothes to go home and for her coming home outfit.
All I had packed was a bathroom bag. Medications, toiletries, soaps, razor (I'd finally be able to see my legs!!) etc. I had planned on packing my clothing bag over the weekend, but my water broke 8 days earlier than my scheduled c-section. We didn't know it until we had gone to the already scheduled OB apt. I thought I had bladder leakage (there had been no "gush". So, my hubby left me at the hospital at 2am to get just a bit of sleep and bring me my bags the next morning, along with his 15 yr old son. It worked out, but I do wish I'd had my bag packed so I didn't have to try to remember what to tell him to pack.
Wow...this thread just made me realize how fast all of this is going to go. I'm only 19 weeks, but when I think about having a hospital bag packed by 30 weeks, that seems like it's just around the corner!
What does everyone pack in their hospital bag?! I was not too prepared when I had my daughter almost 7 years ago. I am pregnant with twins now and I am stressing out and want to be as prepared as possible!
I start my bag around week 33 with bathroom items and the boys take home outfits. I finished the night before my scheduled cs at 37w.
For me I packed yoga pants, nursing tanks and bras, a few tshirts, a robe, underwear, bathroom supplies and hair dryer. I used everything but the underwear because I used the mesh underwear the hospital provided until I got home. I was able to shower and do my hair. It helped me feel normal while was there for 5 days. For the boys I packed two outfits (in case of an accident!) and a blanket to put over them in the car seat. The hospital provided clothes, diapers, and blankets while stay there.
I packed my bag very early! Maybe mid second trimester. I'm glad I had it ready because when I went in for an emergency cesarean at 32 weeks it was so convenient for my husband to just grab the packed bag and run out the door.
We hadnt had a chance to even pack a bag with our daughter since I was rushed to hospital at 24 weeks. The one thing I am keeping in my bag if this happens again is my hair brush. I had hospital bed hair for days before my husband remembered to bring me a brush.
34 weeks tomorrow and I haven't packed it. We're living a little too dangerously for my comfort. It's happening this weekend (my last day of work is Thursday). Hoping to go buy extras of things on Friday and get it ready.
I hadn't packed one and was admitted to the hospital with PTL at 26+5. DH had to run home with a list and put together a bag with stuff I needed/wanted. I'm home now, but I have repacked the bag and its now ready to go, as is the baby bag and car seats.
