Strangest place you've nursed or pumped?

I'm a new FTM, and I've found myself in some interesting spots either nursing or pumping. The strangest one was today at the hairdresser. My stylist called with a last minute opening so of course I said yes, and called my MIL to watch LO. After I left I realized I forgot my pump. I drove back home to get it, couldn't find it, was running late so grabbed my hand pump instead. I figured I'd have time to sit alone under the dryer and hand pump. Well today my stylist used the hand blow dryer, not he big one. So I asked if I could pump while in the chair. My stylist, a man, said "no problem! I have 2 kids, I understand" So I sat there, manually pumping away under the hairdresser cape, trying to relax while a comb was being raked through my hair, in the middle of the salon. Not exactly conducive for let down. But gotta do what I gotta do! Anyone else have weird nursing/pumping stories?

  • I pumped while sitting under the dryer a few months ago. Very weird. Other than that I mostly pump in my house, work and car. Boring....

  • While driving... And going through the toll booth. I use the nursing cover, but you can't hide the sound ;)

  • I used my hand pump in a crowded movie theater during Christmas time. The toys r us checkout like was way longer than we expected!

  • I also BF DD in lots of unusual places. My favorite was probably during the tour of Independence Hall in Philadelphia!

  • I've pumped in a tiny airplane bathroom. I've also tried to pump under a nursing blanket, in the airplane seat. Didn't work out since there was no room and the jerk in front of me put his seat back so I went to the bathroom.
  • I pump at the barn sometimes. There is a chair in the tack room so I just sit there with all the saddles, bridles and horsies and pump away.

  • I've only pumped at home, work, and the car.  Nothing too exciting.  Next week we're going to NYC and leaving DD with grandma so I'm sure I'll be pumping in some odd places there...
  • Even in my Ep'ing days, I was not overly exciting with my pumping. We did have to do an ER trip one day with DD1 while I was EP'ing and I was due to pump. So doctors and nurses are coming in and out to check on her while I am pumping away. It was a hospital, so it wasn't too crazy for them to see, but DD1 was only 8 weeks old and the whole thing was still new and akward for me!

As for bf'ing, when DD2 was 3 months, we took the girls to disney for DD1's 4th birthday. DD2 was still nuring for 45 minutes every 2.5 hours or so, so I wasn't willing to keep missing out on DD1's adventures while I sat in the baby care center all day. So, every lunch and dinner the diaper bag became my boppy and I fed away! We did not sit down at any restaurant in Disney without nursing through most of the meal.  We have a great picture of DD1, Cinderella, me and 2 feet sticking out from under a nursing cover. Another at Chef Mickey's with Mickey mouse.   Imagaintion at Epcot, benches all over the disney parks. Every parade, every show, etc. The best was probably walking down a VERY crowded Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom with the mass amount of people trying to exit after the Very Merry Christmas Party. It was a brutal vacation for me but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  DD1 had a blast and hardly noticed that mommy was a little preoccupied all week.

  • I was pumping in my car in a parking lot one day after a hair appointment and some guy came and knocked on the window to ask where the pay station was. I didn't have a nursing cover or anything. Well either he was oblivious or he has kids because he didn't at all seem shocked.

I am also pretty boring: home, work, hotel room, car (moving and parked). I have a work trip at the end of the month and I'll be adding airport and airplane to the list.

I carried my hand pump around Bourbon Street when I went to New Orleans for my friend's bachelorette party. I wasn't drinking much because my tolerance is so low these days and I was tired but I pumped & dumped in the bathroom bars to relieve pressure/keep up my supply.

  • To the poster who said she pumped and dumped while bar hopping on Bourbon street: you are my hero! Love it. I'll have to do that for my friend's bach party coming up soon, but no where near as cool as Bourbon street!

  • I've nursed everywhere! Church, toilet stall, in a carrier while walking the dog, front seat of the car (not while the vehicle was operating, but with the a/c full blast).

This past weekend I fed dd after she fell and busted her lip at the zoo. We just stopped, sat on the side of the path and got a boobie bandaid.

    Pumping, the car while driving.

  • We are at church a lot, and we've nursed in the library, the food pantry, Sunday School classrooms, staff offices, and the sanctuary. Love it!
  • My best girlfriend and I took a mama day at the spa. Between our massages and soaking at the pool (it was glorious!) we both sat in the changing room, in our spa robes, and pumped!

I've also nursed everywhere, too, but I'd say the most unconventional (for me, at least) was in a small meeting of police officers and their spouses, with the Chaplain giving a talk. DD was still small (2 months?) and needed to eat and I felt brave and tried nursing in the Moby for the first time. I was sweating bullets, but no one was any the wiser.
