Has Anyone heard this before?

hCG human chorionic gonadotropin levels are also higher in women carrying a female fetus when compared to women carrying a male fetus, so it is possible that the pregnancy test becomes positive later in women carrying a male fetus. I found this on BabyMed. I feel like if there was any truth to this, I would have heard it before. I have no idea when I would have turned a test because I didn't know I was pregnant for weeks. I am curious though. Was this true for any of the ST or + moms?

Re: Has Anyone heard this before?

  • Huh. Well my HCG was only at 7 at 11dpo, 26 at 13dpo....so I guess we will see if this is a boy. I'm still thinking the placenta position study sounds promising.

  • I've never heard of that. I tested + at 9dpo with DS.

  • I asked my Dr yesterday at our first appointment about the placenta study. He just laughed at me.

Yeah. I totally side eye the Ramzi theory. This seems iffy to me too. But it's just weird that it wasn't even stated as a theory. It was just a part of a long list of facts about HCG as if it were common knowledge.

  • I don't so much side eye the Ramzi theory. But I've never had an early u/s to be able to determine if it was correct or not, and we were team green both previous pregnancies.

I have no idea about the HcG. I didn't test until 16 dpo with my first and 14 dpo with my 2nd, but both were very dark, but being that I waited to test until AF was due to arrive that might be part of it. But they were both girls.

  • I've never had my levels taken, so I don't have any facts. My opinion, though, would be that while at the end of the pregnancy there could possibly be a measuarable difference between male/female levels, I severely doubt a simple POAS test would be able to pick up any miniscule difference there may be at the beginning. Sounds like hogwash to me.

I figure some companies would have taken advantage of this fact if there was a significant enough difference. Like digitals that say "you're pregnant and it's probably a girl!"
