Failed glucose test!

Boo....I failed the test by 10 points. I just found out before 5pm today so I didn't get to speak to the doctor. What am I to except for the next 12 weeks? What foods should I be eating? Avoiding?

    Usually they have you get scheduled to take the 3 hour fasting test before the actual diagnosis unless they feel like you failed it by enough they just want to start treating you now. I just got the diagnosis and basically the diet is just eat healthy, no sugary drinks and sweets, eat a moderate amount of carbs (15-30 g at breakfast, 30-45g at lunch, 45-60g at dinner and three snacks of 15-30g). There are a lot good ideas for food online and in that thread. You don't have to starve yourself by any means just eat what I probably pretty much should be eating anyways. Try to relax until the follow up, it is an adjustment but it is not the end of the world like I was feeling when I failed. Hopefully you'll pass the 3 hour test but if not then you'll get referrals for a nutritionist for a customized meal/snack ideas.

    I read somewhere that most fail the first 1 hour test. True?

    Yes, it is pretty common to fail the 1-hr. 





    I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

    Dee729 I failed my one hour by 10 points last Wed, took the long test on Friday and got results yesterday that I passed. I was told by some ladies in my ticker change group that it's very common to fail the first test and pass the second. Unless you mean you failed your second test, and in that case just wait to hear from your doc.
