Hi all! I'm a first time mom and my OB delivers at Good Sam or O'connor. Has anyone had experiences at either of these hospitals? We are planning to tour both. Any advice or recommendations would be great.
I don't have any experience with either, but maybe you can start checking reviews on Yelp and see what people are saying about their experiences there. Also, see if they give tours. Where you feel comfortable makes so much of a difference!
Never was a patient at either however have heard good about both & know a nurse in L&D at each. Good Sam has a nice lactation/family education office on site (run by seperate group). Both hospitals offer lactation/new mom support services post-birth & they are available to anyone in the community.
Good Sam takes the more difficult cases (want to say their NICU is level 3 ... might be phrasing it wrong; gist being that if other hospitals need to transfer a pregnant patient/ newborn because they have the higher level specialists which is good to know if pregnancy has complications) & Good Sam's csection stats will be higher.
Would ask your OB/gyn if (s)he has a preference & would check with your insurance to see if one hospital would be better covered by your benefit. If all else is equal, personally would go with the hospital which would be easiest to get to since you'll probably labor at home until contractions are within a certain window.
