HELP! WWYD?

LO has been asleep since 5:30.  Usually she goes down at 7:15/30 and will sleep through the night. Do I let her sleep or should I wake her to feed her?? And yes - we've checked her multiple times and she is alive.

Re: HELP! WWYD?

  • How late does she usually sleep when you put her down in the 7 o'clock hour?
  • Loading the player...
  • @peanutmuse usually 6:30 or 7:00 am.
  • What are you doing to get her to sleep that long of a stretch?!?

Luck! Usually she is down by 7:30/8:00 and most days she sleeps until about 7:00 am. Sometimes she gets up at 5:30 or 6:30 am, but that is sporadic. This is our usual routine:

DD gets breastMilk from a bottle. She eats 4-5 ounces at a feeding (usually). I feed her every 2-3 hrs during the day. She takes short naps during the day and one long nap from 1-4:30 pm. Then she is up until bedtime. When we go to bed I feed her in her room (only feeding there) and it is dark with no noise.

She then usually stirs 2-3 times (it's about a 15-20 min sleep dance) and I pat her back w/o picking her up. Usually she goes right back to sleep. If she fusses more than a minute or so with me patting her back I pick her up and rock her and start the process over.

Honestly - it is luck. DD#1 was such a bad sleeper that I think I was given a good sleeper this time to make up for it.

I know you weren't asking me @mrsbeers, but I honestly think it depends on the baby. My little guy is sleeping from 9pm-7am with some regularity. I don't think I did anything magical. Some babies are just good sleepers.

@angiek1 -- I wouldn't wake her, honestly. She might get up earlier, but then you just adjust tomorrow's schedule accordingly, if possible. She might need the extra sleep. And if she wakes up, so be it. Babies can be fickle like that and change things up on you. I wouldn't fight it too hard.

Yeah I am going to let her sleep. And I agree babies are so different. What works with one won't work with another.
  • I used honestly twice in my post.

I am honestly a loser tonight.

@peanutmuse lol - at least you are being honest (in your postings not the loser part)

Edit - didn't want that to read wrong.

Let her sleep. That happened to me once. My DD usually sleeps by 10 and gets up at 5. One time she nursed around 630 and she usually will get up 3 hours or so later, so I waited and at 930 she still wasn't up. So I waited some more and still nothing, finally around 1030 I was like screw it! I'm going to sleep!! She ended up sleeping till like 4 the next morning!!

  • My LO was asleep before 5 tonight and slept until 6:30 when I woke her up for a long overdue feed & then to start our bath routine. He was back asleep by 7:30 and just woke up at 11:30 which is very early compared to the 2:30-4:30 wake up time he usually gets up at. Not horrible but just wanted to let you know I did the same questioning of myself wondering do I just let him sleep? Skip the bath? Wake up? Etc.
  • AND OMG SHE IS STILL ASLEEP! I literally sprinted to her bedroom because I was freaking out. She is still sleeping and looks super peaceful.  I guess she is one tired babe!
  • I couldn't be more jealous.
