What do you drive?

So looks like we get to look at the car tonight! DH wants to trade in his truck and drive my jeep. I currently have a 2008 Jeep Liberty. I really like it but it is small. Like smaller than most cars i have driven. If we are looking to try for baby #2 we have to have (lol obviously not a necessity but ya know!) something bigger. I'm going to look at a 2010 GMC Acadia with third row.

What are you driving? Thoughts on roomy vehicles? PS we are just looking i'm fine with my jeep until baby number two wants to ride home from the hospital HA!

DH's car that only gets driven for his commute is a 2007 Chevy Aveo.
As much as I'd love a new/new for me car, I kinda sorta love not having car payments so we try hard to put them to use for as long as we can.

IF someone wanted to give me a free van and i could be payment free you bet your ass i would do it!!

Right now i can be making the same payment for my car or for the acadia so why not drive something more comfortable/roomy?

I just traded my '06 4Runner for a 2013 Highlander.

Our family will always have 1 4 door car and 1 SUV, just the way we roll. Personally, I will always drive an SUV with the winters we get up here.

Yea, that's one thing I kind of like about it. We can easily pack/load it up no problem.
For your case, I'd probably just compare/contrast gas efficiency. If it's not too much a difference for ya, I say go for it!

This one actually gets a little bit better than my jeep.

I don't understand the need for a tank when you are only planning on two children... Just two, right? Or did I miss something? Anyways, I am all about muscle cars and I do have a Mustang if my own, but the car I recommend to everyone is a diesel Jetta. We have a certified pre owned 2011 model and it is amazing. We drove from South metro Atlanta to mid Maryland on one single tank of gas. I seriously love everything about it except for the fact that it isn't a muscle car.

What qualities exactly are you looking for? It's plenty spacious in the back and no problem at all getting the baby in & out.

I have to have 4x4 the winter is pretty bad around here. And i don't want a tank LOL but i have two nieces that are with me regularly... then 2 kids and me. Add in a stroller and my shopping and space is rather limited.

I drive a Chevy Equinox and I really, really like it. It's a 2007 and I put a lot of kms on in a week (almost 1000) so I'll probably have to look at something new in a year or two. While I love my SUV, I think I'll go smaller. Maybe a Ford Fusion or the like. Even if we do end up with another kid, it just makes more sense to me. We'll see when the time comes though.

ETA: I never want a third row option. I don't want to feel obligated to haul around any more people than the ones I married/created. Lol.

Right now the FF carseat fits great but the RF had to be placed in the middle and was like half in my arm area b/c of space. I would go for a smaller SUV if i found one i liked but i haven't done that yet. Right now i am looking at a traverse, acadia, or an enclave.

I have a 2007 Prius and it has been super reliable. I am tall so loved the leg room in it, front and back. I have put a lot of miles on it though, so I'm starting to get car envy. It would be best for me to get another Prius or hybrid, due to the miles I travel and its reliability. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I love the Subaru Tribeca, but the gase mileage is horrible. So that's a no go.

This. I have a 2010 RAV4 and love it. The only issue is that it doesn't allow for a RF carseat in the center if that's a must have for you. It is plenty roomy in the back, though!

I sold my mini cooper at the beginning of the year because DH got a company car, and now I'm driving the Subaru Outback. I have to say, while it's not as fun to drive as the mini cooper, it is practical, safe, will last forever, and comfortable. We got it with the intention of passing it down to DD when she turns 16. Just like their commercials tell us to do. Because clearly, we are their target demographic.

My friend LOVES her's. She doesn't have kids though so i guess she has to keep it forever....

We're into small cars here. I drive a Toyota Yaris (sedan version with 4 doors, but it's still quite small) and DH drives a Scion tc -- though he's looking into subcompacts for his next car.

My yaris is the family car

We even took 11 days to drive across the country in it when DS was 6 weeks old. If we could do that, then our car is plenty big!

IF we had a second, I don't see us getting anything bigger than a small sized sedan. I'd probably keep trying to make it work in my yaris.

I have an '07 Outback and DH has an '03 BMW 325i.

Honestly, his car is way the heck more fun to drive. Handling, acceleration, braking, even the seats are better. But I like to hike and ski, and a sport suspension FWD car on pot-holed forest service roads or in the snow? Just no. Plus, the Outback can haul a bunch of crap, and has a roomy back section for DD using the potty, putting groceries and craft supplies and the dog's stuff and the other things I keep forgetting to take out of the car....

We regularly have two kids in there (I watch a friend's son two days a week) and it works just fine.

I am jealous of your Toyota Prius @Ago.

I have a Camry and I plan on getting a Prius or Nissan Leaf. H really wanted to get a minivan but since we don't plan on having anymore kids we don't need a bigger car.

My XH has a Toyota Rav 4 and it was awesome. We could get two car seats in the back plus someone (small) could sit between them.

I just traded in my busted Hyundai Accent (01) for a Kia Soup (2010) and I am so happy. I had THREE booster seats back there at one point, transporting my DD, niece, and nephew and it was a tad tight but they made do.

I recommend it. We have had no major problems with it. The haters (there were a lot when we bought it new) kept saying we'd regret it, it would have lots of problems, blah, blah, blah. It has been well worth it and we've saved a lot of money, as it is paid off and I drive it for work, so I get mileage reimbursement that I'm saving for my next vehicle.

2010 Acura TSX. I love it. When we pay it off DH is going to take it over and we will get an Acura MDX or RDX. After watching my car go through a major accident, I will never buy anything other than an Acura, and I am kind spoiled. X_X

We have a 2006 Audi A8 and 2001 VW Passat.. Its funny you can fit more in the Passat since the Audi you can't fold down the seats. We are so tall we are looking into a SUV since we have a hard time fitting in any car.

Our only car is a 2006 Aveo. People thought we'd need something different in North Dakota, because the snow and ice is crazy, but it's been fine. And it's paid off.

I walk to work. Yes, even below zero.
