I'm a new FTM, and I've found myself in some interesting spots either nursing or pumping. The strangest one was today at the hairdresser. My stylist called with a last minute opening so of course I said yes, and called my MIL to watch LO. After I left I realized I forgot my pump. I drove back home to get it, couldn't find it, was running late so grabbed my hand pump instead. I figured I'd have time to sit alone under the dryer and hand pump. Well today my stylist used the hand blow dryer, not he big one. So I asked if I could pump while in the chair. My stylist, a man, said "no problem! I have 2 kids, I understand" So I sat there, manually pumping away under the hairdresser cape, trying to relax while a comb was being raked through my hair, in the middle of the salon. Not exactly conducive for let down. But gotta do what I gotta do!
Anyone else have weird nursing/pumping stories?
Re: Strangest place you've nursed or pumped?
Even in my Ep'ing days, I was not overly exciting with my pumping. We did have to do an ER trip one day with DD1 while I was EP'ing and I was due to pump. So doctors and nurses are coming in and out to check on her while I am pumping away. It was a hospital, so it wasn't too crazy for them to see, but DD1 was only 8 weeks old and the whole thing was still new and akward for me!
As for bf'ing, when DD2 was 3 months, we took the girls to disney for DD1's 4th birthday. DD2 was still nuring for 45 minutes every 2.5 hours or so, so I wasn't willing to keep missing out on DD1's adventures while I sat in the baby care center all day. So, every lunch and dinner the diaper bag became my boppy and I fed away! We did not sit down at any restaurant in Disney without nursing through most of the meal. We have a great picture of DD1, Cinderella, me and 2 feet sticking out from under a nursing cover. Another at Chef Mickey's with Mickey mouse. Imagaintion at Epcot, benches all over the disney parks. Every parade, every show, etc. The best was probably walking down a VERY crowded Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom with the mass amount of people trying to exit after the Very Merry Christmas Party. It was a brutal vacation for me but I wouldn't trade it for the world. DD1 had a blast and hardly noticed that mommy was a little preoccupied all week.
I am also pretty boring: home, work, hotel room, car (moving and parked). I have a work trip at the end of the month and I'll be adding airport and airplane to the list.
