So I got my test results back and it looks like although I am okay w/ blood sugar levels my platelet count is a little low and I'm anemic. My dr said its sort of normal and all I can do is monitor it??
Yep. Take your prenatals and also your doctors advice. My white blood cell count was elevated last time I had blood drawn. Dr said that kind of stuff is common in pregnancy.
i had low platelets with my first child- but really low, like 60,000 low. the risk involved is, of course, clotting issues post delivery, which then rules out certain pain options. i was told that 100k is really the magic number- that is, if they weren't at least that high, an epi would be off the table and general anesthesia would be my only option. that scared me, because that meant my husband wouldn't be present for the delivery and i would be knocked out, so no one would see my son born. but all we could do was monitor the levels and wait and see. i had them checked monthly at first then weekly in the third trimester. they checked them before my delivery and slowly they crept up. i ended up being around 130k by the time my son was born, so i had no complications from either the delivery or the epi. also, low platelets were not an issue with both my daughter's and this current pregnancy, so who the heck knows what happened that time around.
good luck! it is so scary to hear anything weird is going on while our bodies are under all this added stress anyway.
I'm in the low platelet boat too. Had it with my daughter too and it worked out fine. Was still able to do epi. Just means little more monitoring. After baby they returned to normal.
Agree with the other ladies. Mine were way low last time, as in, I had to be induced they were getting so low (40s) I had to go natural, which I am so grateful for and they bounced right back after I had her. There's nothing you can do about if, so don't stress. I'm sure they will stay nice and high. If you have any questions, let me know!

Mine was also a little low. My OB said he considered it close enough to normal. As long as things are monitored, you don't have to really worry... They will catch things if they start becoming a problem.
