What were the annoying questions you were asked? I figure, we're getting through the holidays and PG girls out there have probably had many conversations with family about being PG so the questions may have surfaced. They sure have for me!
"What do you want more, a boy or a girl?"
I may be the only one, but this one ?just annoys me cause 1. i don't have a choice, the baby is who the baby is, and 2. who wants to set themselves up for disappointment. Maybe i'm being sensitive.
also..?
"Are you sure its not twins?"
Um, i'm 14 weeks pregnant, i've told you i've had 2 ultrasounds, the doctor has confirmed its one baby in there, and i've shown you the pics....
on a couple of occasions, that question has been followed up with "are you suure its not twins? You know its easier to have 2 at the same time".
Seriously folks, are you f'ing kidding me? I'll make sure to fill out that request form when we're TTC #2. Sheesh!?
All of ?the above questions?were asked by people who have had multiple kids...you would think they know!!!!!!?
Bonus question I have received: "are you getting rid of your cats now that you have a baby on the way?"....again Are you F'ing kidding me??
What questions have you received????
Re: Poll: Annoying ?s while being pregnant
** are you getting rid of your cats now that you have a baby on the way? **
Doctors used to tell PG women to get rid of their cats... cat poop has some bacteria in it that is incredibly harmful to anyone with a compromised immune system (including pregnancy). This was basically when women were expected to take care of the chores like cleaning out the cat box, not the father.
When I had my kidney transplant, my doc suggested getting rid of my cat unless DH could *promise* I'd never touch the litter, so it's not as random a question as you might think!
I grew to get annoyed at "Do you know what you're having?"
ughmn... "Well, duuuuh : A Baby!"

Um, I doubt it. I can barely keep up with one with tons of help from DH. I think we'd have had to hire live-in help if we'd had two!
Luckily I didn't get too many weird questions, but I did get a couple of homeless people congratulating me on the baby and then asking for money - which made me feel really bad!
Good to know! I know about not changing the litter box, but didn't think it was ever asked to get rid of cats. They're my first 2 kids!
?
Ava - LOL! I'm using that, the next time I get the question.
?
Green eyes - My SIL has twins, so I have had a little inkling of how chaotic it could be. Not like i'd be disapointed or anything, but really? Easier? Riiight. HAHAH!
Way for the homeless people to touch on a soft spot huh?!?
Ah, yes the twins questions...they never stopped and I just grew more tolerant of them.
Mine were: "Are you finding out the sex of the babies? You're not? Don't you want to be prepared for them?" (Because apparently if you choose to not know what you are having it makes you unprepared.)
And, here's one for mostly laughs: "Oh you're having twins? Are they paternal or maternal?" *sigh* And, this came from someone IN the medical field...
I also got more comments about why I was considered high risk having multiples...those got very annoying.
I got a lot of the "are you sure it's not twins?" as well. More lately it's been "when are you due?" and then an "OMG really? you poor thing" or something similar when I tell them it's not, like, RIGHT NOW.
I've also gotten a lot of "wow, that's going to be a big baby", which, while not technically a question, is VERY annoying. Way to imply I'm either going to have a really tough time, or a CS.
On the cat question, there is also an old wives tale about cats stealing the baby's breath. Um...hello??
I was lucky and didn't get too many weird questions those the ones that bothered me the most were about work: are you going to 'retire' after the baby comes? Yes, someone did ask me that: retire, not take time off. Um...where is this secret bank account you think I have? I'd sure like to see it!
I did get the question about boy vs girl and I'm with you. I just wanted the baby to be healthy and I would hate to ever have to make that decision. Can you imagine some time in the future when you can pick?? That would be terrible.
Lighthouse State Beach, Santa Cruz.
I love the "How are you feeling??" question.
Umm, I am 8 months pregnant, how do you think I am feeling?? Pregnant, tired, and uncomfortable!
I actually felt really good the whole pregnancy, so I think there are different answers to that question. I'm sorry you're uncomfortable though. You're almost there though
