STM's- baby waking toddler?

I was wondering if anyone else is dealing with their toddler waking up in the middle of the night when the baby wakes up to eat? We are usually ok with the 1:00/2:00 feeding but for the last 4 days my DS hears DD crying when she wakes up for her 5:00 feeding. We aren't able to get DS back to sleep once he gets up and he's a hot mess the rest of the day. Anyone else dealing with this? Any suggestions?

We have a sound machine in dd's room that we turn on to help drown out any noise. It was from target and has about 5 sounds (heartbeat, rain, ocean wave, and 2 lullabies. We use the lullabies). We also close her door after she is asleep. For reference, she will be 3 in June.

O wakes anyway a couple times during the night so its not just the baby for us. DH just takes him back go bed and lays with him and he goes back to sleep. Could you try a fan or noise machine?

We are very lucky about my daughter's age. 6 months ago it would have been a wreck, but she has gotten so much better about taking herself back to bed. (I guess it comes from having to get up in the middle of the night to use the toilet.) Will is very quiet and doesn't cry, but every once in a while his hungry squeak wakes her up. She will talk to me for a minute and go back to bed.

We actually do have a white noise machine in his room that we thought was drowning out the noise. She's 4 weeks and this is just starting now. We are actually sleeping in the living room and he's still waking up. I guess it could just be coincidence and not really from her. Either way him waking up 2 hours early is SO not cool

White noise! We have a HEPA filter in DS1's room and it really blocks the sound of the baby crying.

So far, the baby doesn't seem to be waking DD1. She has been waking more at night since we came home with DD2. They never seem to wake at the same time though! DD1 goes back to sleep after we check on her unless it's about 6 or after. She went through a phase for about a week where she thought it was time to get up at 1 in the morning and would talk and sing in her crib for about an hour before she'd fall asleep again. Thankfully that's over! If she's not wanting to go back to sleep, the radio usually helps. Good luck with your little ones!

Unfortunately in our house it's usually the toddler waking up the newborn, but sometimes it goes the other way, too. We have white noise in both their rooms.

My first two boys are 2 years apart, and my husband would just take the 2 year old to bed and comfort him when I would get up with the baby, he would usually fall right back to sleep and then we could put him back in his bed. Now those two kids are 7 and 5, and they sleep through the night just fine with this one.

We use a fan in DS room, it blocks out everything and the baby doesn't wake him. Maybe give that a try, or a sound machine.

If anyone is looking for an awesome machine check out homedics brand at target. It's like $20, has a projector with 3 disks of different scenes, 5 sounds, and you can set a timer for 15,30,45,60 minutes where it will turn off automatically. Or you can just leave it on. It was recommended to me by a friend and was honestly one of the best baby purchases I made. We still use it every night!
