Losing the baby weight without supply dip?

I am sorry I know the has been asked before but when I tried to use the search box but every time I do it takes me to 'the knot' for some reason which is absolutely no help, haha!

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for post Partum weight loss that won't effect my supply. My twins are now almost 5 months so I'm hoping I have my milk established well enough to get back in shape and start dieting. I used to run and do insanity every night but I don't know if burning that many calories will cause me to dry up? Is there a correct way to go about dropping the baby weight? We still have about 3 1/2 feet of snow where I am so walking/running outside isn't a option otherwise I would do lower impact stuff but I'm nervous to jump in and start back up with shakeology and my various beach body DVDs right now because I this is about the time I just dried up without reason with my first DS.

I would love to hear what you ladies have done and if it did or did not effect supply at 5 months +. Thanks!

Re: Losing the baby weight without supply dip?

  • With DD#1 I had an awesome supply and was able to do Weight Watchers and lose weight and did not have any supply problems at 5 months.

  • I've been running 4 times a week, about 3-4 miles each time and eating low carb, mainly just cut out all processed foods, breads, rice, potatoes, and pastas. My supply has been fine. I never noticed any dip. I've lost about 12lbs in 2 months.

  • kellymom has some good guidelines for losing weight while breastfeeding.

  • its going to be different for everyone.

For me, I just ate real, healthy food, ate when I was hungry, stopped when I was full and cut down on portions if I felt that my needs had changed. I exercised lightly (yoga, walking, etc) when I had the energy and time. I lost all of the baby weight by 3 months PP and have been on a slow downward trend since then. I started out my pregnancy with about 30-40 extra lbs and only gained <30.
