early case of PUPPS... lucky me! :/

Hello everyone,

I have been itchy and uncomfortable for a week now I knew it was pupps because I got it at the very end of my last pregnancy. Anyone else suffering from pupps? What things did you use to relieve the itch and burn? I am trying benadryl cream and its not working very good :\

I did read online that 70% of women who get pupps end up having boys, interesting. Hope its true lol!

  • Well I had never heard of that, I just did the Google. I first must say holy bajeebus that doesn't look pleasant at all, and I am sorry for what you might be going through, but there are threads and pages (non Bump related) when you Google puppps relief. I saw some sort of tar soap mentioned, might be something to look into.

Best of luck, and don't scratch (I would assume)

  • Yea I was reading about the tar soap too I think I may try to find it tomorrow and get some. Yes its noooo fun, its not supposed to really come until third trimester but I ended up with it here at 15 weeks.. ugh
  • I didn't know you could get it this early on in pregnancy. I would talk to my doctor about options because if that's what it is, you have a long way to go before you get any relief (from what I have read)! :-S Good luck and try not to scratch!
  • Sorry you are waking with this. I know it's miserable. The tar soap and baths with corn starch helped a colleague of mine.

  • OH NO! I got a severe case of Puppp's postpartum with DS. It. Was. Awful. Definitely talk to your doctor and a dermatologist, hopefully you can get some relief. The only thing that made me feel better were showers. I literally showered like 3x a day until I finally broke down and got some strong steroids to knock it out. Good luck to you!!

  • I have psoriasis and my skin is always very itchy. I find the Aveeno lotions to work the best and help with irritation. GL

  • I believe oatmeal baths help. Though I admit I know nothing about them.
  • ALOE GEL! Aloe gel and Curel for ensitive skin. I have never had this, but I get hives about 3-6 times a year on my face and the combo of both of these is the only thing that gives my itching/burning some relief. (Aloe gel first, let it dry, then Curel)

  • I had PUPPS pp last baby. I second Aloe gel big time!
  • Yuck!  PUPPPS is terrible.  I had it at the very end of my last pregnancy (maybe about a week) and It came back a couple of weeks after delivery, it was horrible! I'm really hoping it doesn't come back and it's the only thing I've been dreading this time. A friend of a friend had it earlier in pregnancy and she used dandelion root tea (I believe). I would definitely look into it when you still have a long way to go. I got a corticosteroid cream but it didn't really take away the itch, just made it manageable to sleep. Good luck, let us know if something really works well for you!
